Still working on organizing spare parts. I washed these lower panels this weekend and took a closer look at them all to access their future potential. A LOT of damage and will take quite a bit of work to repair. The 2 Blue ones against the ramp are not bad, so I kept them out to try and use in the near future. The others I taped together (you can "nest" the ones from each side if there are no ducts) and then placed in large HD garbage bags to store in my spares area.







It's amazing what some people have done to these - not just very crude re-painting but also crazy repairs that make you just shake your head. Like this one that was mended with cable ties.....lol......wow!

 

Hey, at least he clipped the tails off the zip ties.

 

Ha ha - yup.....gotta be thankful for the little things in life!

 

I feel like that was an actual "cool" thing to do once you bounced your bike off of the ground. Kinda like " oh man you went down, but your still riding...noice!". lol

 

Zip ties is an old emergency dirt bike repair move when you are on a multi day trip.

 

I can't lie, I use to use safety wire. My gf now wife use to call my 700 "Frankenstein". If I could have just learned how to ride, I would have saved on safety wire!!

In the "thinning the herd" department....these are the 2 bikes I am planning to sell first.

The '90 was the first '90 I bought - and I've since picked up a nicer one so no need for two of them.

The Blue '87 is the 2nd one I ever bought - way back in 2019 - and I've picked up better examples since, so same thing as above.

Both need a little work but nothing I can't knock out when time allows.

I have a brand new never used lift table right next to them I can't really use until I clear out a little space, so that's part of the plan to get it into service.

I like the red one as well. The wheel may be worth 1/2 that bike value. What size tire is recommended for that rear? 160?

 

F: 120/70-17
R: 170/60-17

I don't think these wheels are that hard to come by, are they?

 

Pretty much $400 plus shipping minimum. 1990 - 1993 VFR750F only.

 

170/60 is stock. 5.5" is also perfect for 180/55.

 

Just the rear wheel though, right? Front wheel not as much in demand?

I'll have to look - but pretty sure I have both a front and rear I wouldn't mind selling. Plus a couple on one of my Blue bikes that's under restoration. I could revert that back to factory spec wheels easily.

I also have a balance stand to double check trueness.

Quick peek on eBay and didn't see any of the rear wheels. There are some fronts and they range between $100-200 plus shipping. I'll check what I have this week. They are all out at my storage unit.

Another of my RC26's has the 8 spoke rear wheel too.

Return it to spec and sell that rear?

 

OK - mix up. I think mine are the ones used on the CBR600 - not the RC36.
