I'm looking for an 86 VFR700 frame or parts bike with a clean title. I'm in Maryland, so depending on where you're located it would likely need to be shipped. Thanks!

You're welcome. I saw it listed a week or so ago - the same seller with a complete version of the same model for $3,500.

If I didn't already have so many of these, I would have been more interested.

Maybe send the seller an inquiry and see where he's at on the "pending" sale, if you have interest. You never know....

Whatever you do, don't ask "is it available".

A curse will be thrust upon you and your family.

Oh, you will have the privilege of paying a fee to the seller to be able to get the title in your name.

It's still pending. I was going to message him but he says no shipping and right now I don't have the time to go get it.

Yeah I thought that was odd with the title.

Thanks for sharing the listing. Who did you use for shipping for the 87 VFR you just picked up? I'll check and see how much shipping will be then see if this guy is willing to ship.

I notice the engine cases are black, didn't the 86 VFRs have bronze cases and the 87 black? I've seen a few 86s with black cases and I've always wondered if Honda started converting over to black cases sometime in 86 or maybe someone just swapped engines or cases.

    See Post #7, too.

As far as a seller saying "no shipping"....that doesn't mean you can't arrange for transport yourself, as long as he understands he doesn't have to do anything except coordinate with the transport person on the day and time it's to be picked up, so it's available for transport.

You'll have to discuss with the seller obviously so he understands and agrees.

This exact scenario happened with my last bike, and it's sitting at my house right now.

As to the cost of transport, I'm thinking it could be anywhere from $500 to $750.

I've paid for transport more times than I like to admit but sometimes that's the price of "admission".

First thing is you have to have a phone conversation with the seller(s). Once they know they have a legitimate potential buyer, most of the time they will work with you.

    Just my 2 cents......

    I used:

    Robert Johnson
    Conestoga Mid-Atlantic Transport
    ConestogaMA@gmail.com
    727-238-7674

His normal route is between Illinois and Florida (Gulf side) so not sure what he can do for you.

You could also try one I've used before:

    https://nationalautoshipping.com/

And there are many many more, if you have the inclination to do some calling around.
