The stickers are so old and the bike spent a considerable amount of time exposed to elements in its life before my sister owned it.

They will likely stay because as rogue said... Might not work out real good.

Plus, once the Yosh is back on they are mostly hidden.

Those plates look very similar to the CB-1 kits I made/sold for years. Nice!

Here's the ones I made for the Hawk. Nevermind the rusty bits and clunky footpeg, it was early in the build.

Nice! I sold a bunch of the CB-1 ones. Still have a few sets left.

I made a set or two with hacksaw and file then used that model to have a guy build a bunch of them. I sources bolts, etc. and instant kits!

    Hah. Yep.

I start with cereal box for the best first guess. Then move to 1/8 ABS where I can actually bolt things up for clearance and body position. Then onto aluminum with a band saw and drill press.

I rough in the shape on the band saw, then drill the holes. Trace the approved ABS model and then I bolt them together to final shape on the band saw, grinder and Beartex wheel. And then apart for final blending.

Needless to say I have HOURS into them.

Each set is usually a new application, so not a big incentive to have machined or laser/water jet cut. My approved prototype is the only one.

The benefit for creating a model from them and having cut would be to easily add lightening holes / reliefs. I refrain from manually creating those usually because I want the strength over losing a few ounces and I absolutely hate lightening holes/features that are not perfectly patterned/spaced. One fuck up and it would be a bunch of hours down the drain for me.

I mostly did it for the CB-1 group in addition to my bikes. They've lost their minds with TDS now and only yell the ten approved insults as their language. lol Me? Still riding the CB-1 and all of the others, smiling every mile.

really ? deleting a thin plastic sticker couldnt cause any real damage, could it ? i mean, unless you used a hammer.

Let's define "real damage" as having to repaint. It's not just the technique, and I hope you think I have more finesse than a hammer. Its very similar to how the warning stickers on fuel tanks literally etch themselves into the paint/clearcoat. You're not just warming them with a heat gun and peeling. They can become part of the finish. Now fuel tank stickers obviously get more direct sun than anything else. While I think they might come off, I don't really care to find out on something that doesn't really show that much and might create more work for me.

    Oh, burn.

Yeah, I'm so insecure about that. "Oh god, they might think I don't what my tire pressures should be."

And then Ms. Gagger points and laughs at me and I cry and wreck in the school parking lot and the squirrelman comes out of his house next door and points and laughs, "haha u got stpd stkr on ur swngrm!"

You guys made coffee come out my nose. hahahaha

SM - my message was about having to repaint. They just don't come off. The other note of interest is historic. There are a lot of peeps that want all of the original stuff. I hate tank stickers, but I have had comments regarding those missing or being present more than any other sale point.

"they don't care about scratched rims, but where are the Fn stickers????" hahaha

Either way thanks for the laugh from both of you.
