I picked up another VF500 for a couple on C-notes. This one at least turning over and was trying to run. I've already looked into the engine and it looks ok. I checked the timing and valve lash and the oil has nothing bad in it. My first build here https://vfrworld.com/threads/1984-vf500f-with-86-engine-complete-rebuild.61686/page-9#post-656732 was more cafe style. this one I'm going to try to keep it stock. It needs a lot of work but not having to rebuild the engine like I did on the first one should save me some time. I've already been tearing it down and cleaning stuff. The frame looks so horrible I'm probably going to get it sand blasted. I'll follow up with the things I've done. In the meantime here are some pics of what I started with.

What else did it come with?

Fuel tank, seat, or any fairings?

When you tried to start it - you plumbed in from a fuel bottle?

I'm all for saving these 1st and 2nd Gen. Interceptors so good on ya!

Yes seat, good tank, and most of the fairings, but they are pretty beat up. The guy I bought it from almost got it running when I looked at it.

I definitely will need a complete exhaust system. I posted about this and exhaust wrap in another thread.

I likely have a serviceable stock collector and front header pipes to sell for a very reasonable price. Also rear header pipes, but those usually stay intact even with after market systems. Then you can create some custom slip-ons off the collector.

Aftermarket exhaust does not have a center stand stop. That was the new stop I presume. Looks like it rubbed all the way thru to the bearing race?

show some respect to the skilled weavers and their cultural heritage by removing the "oriental rug" from under your bike for cleaning and preservation. its a beautiful cultural artifact, not a floormat for a greasy 'cycle shop please.

Pretty sure it was determined in the other thread that it is indeed a greasy cycle shop floormat.

He didn't borrow it from you sm and then do that with it. He can do whatever the hell he wants to do with it.

They are also great for rolling up dead hookers.

Mmmm...mmmmmm...mmm. Tasty. That is a very satisfying stage. They look downright thirsty for paint.

Don't think I've ever seen a stock shock finished in silver like that. I kinda like it.
