I believe I hadn't gotten mine squarely installed once before also, and failed to notice it. Get a flashlight & thoroughly look over where the carbs clamp to be certain all 4 are fully inserted & square before you tighten the clamps.

Okay is the red circle here indicate the Starter Jet? I have tried to lightly poke at with a piece of .010 wire, and it will not go in more than couple mm.

    Yes. Likely clogged then.

If you have anything finer, try that too tho.

Poke, prod, spray, soak, blow, hope, curse, maniacally laugh.

    Drink.

I will grab a set and see what size wire will pass. Remind me if I get distracted in the shop.

I am currently attempting with a .090 High E guitar string. I will see what I have. I did squirt some Gumout into the small opening at the top. It seemed to drain somewhere? Where do the passages lead for these?

It should route into the venturi bore I believe. Like the pilot jet.

So perhaps not totally clogged then? I recently ran some wire thru some and I don't seem to remember it having to be c-hair fine.

Got number one cleared three to go. This is a 9 gauge guitar string. String Joy Products Metal Heavy Top Medium Bottoms! Maybe I should send them a thank you note?
Thanks Capt. I will keep you posted. Squirting a healthy dose of Gumout in to soak then gently poking. I would still like to understand what the max diameter poker they can stand?

I would then take a smaller gauge wire and put some EASY bends in it and do some spinning and stroking... OH MY!!!

    Rinse and repeat.

Just found low speed #35 jet on Carb 3, to be plugged. I may look to see if I can replace them all once I get the PNID. Starter Jets all Carbs are clear. All carb jets were ultrasonically cleaned and were cleared when I went through the carbs last year.

    Jets for this 500 as I found them-- Carb 1,2: 35 /95
    Carb 3,4: 35/92

I haven't seen a spec for these in the shop manual .pdf file? Need to do some research.

That would certainly contribute to a lot of problems you describe too.

See my edit to my last post. OEM low speeds are #38, I am finding #35s?

    49 State: #38

I will bet somewhere down in one of your threads I mentioned going to at least #38, but recommending #40.
