Tubes checked for dings, a few swipes of 1500 sandpaper, then polished out with Mothers. Donor 1990 VFR forks bought for the chrome tubes somehow had perfect bushings. Internals are from the 1992 VFR (which got 97 forks), pretty sure 92 got updated valving from 91, so I went with them (why not?). RT springs. The F3 rebound adjusters are frozen (common), so they are soaking in Marvel Mystery Oil, maybe at some point those internals can be used as intended.

Those look like one of my ST1100 fork innards.
The highlighted blue interface parts were the parts giving me trouble. I had to polish each component so they would sit correctly. Funny how many parts are interchangeable between Hondas. PXL_20250103_040223972.jpg

I'm still confused about what was wrong. The springs just rest against those landings.

If you are referring to the dished/slotted washer (not shown in my pic), that goes on top, right below the nut. It is responsible for holding preload pressure against the spring. #15

The landing on the damper rod (across from item #5) was not seating on the damper rod due to metal burs. That in turn was not allowing the spring to be compressed enough to to fit the slotted washer at the top. I then realized that I could unthread the top nut a bit to allow the slotted washer to fit, once I polished the "spring landing" on the damper rod.

Maybe that makes sense now? Every fork I have taken apart has been different so I am always learning how to f it up.

    Still absolutely confused.

What does that mean? The landing is not a separate piece on the Damper unit. The spring rides right on top, nothing in between. Was/is it broken?

Yeah, that hat with all of the radial holes that the spring rests on was separate. It is not one with the damper rod. Might have originally been a press fit. All I know is that it fell out with the damper once I got the bottom bolt out.

This is the first time I considered applying wheel stripes. It's a little "busy", but I eliminated a long section of white / gray fade to the right of the blue to help.

I think it will look pretty cool.

"RC26-II" Upgrade Kit pretty much ready for install.

    PXL_20250125_234017863.jpg

CBR600F3 forks, wheel and fender. New Nissin Calipers. F3 rear wheel, 5.0" vs the F2 4.5".

    PXL_20250125_234025748.jpg

I have a new set of wheel spacers for the swap too and I'm working on a revised rear caliper bracket solution, so the parts that come off will be a complete kit.
