I've not tried it because the wall of the shock body is so thin. I doubt it would work, plus it would be a dangerous experiment!

Did a search and found out WP has a aftermarket shock for the 86-87 VFR700/750F whit rebound damping adjustment, and length adjustment! (also a 10mm longer version for the 88-89 VFR750F is awable)
Importer in north america is in Canada

Considering that it's WP my guess would be $1000, maybe more! It would be interesting to know for sure though.

You can get them if you can find them. Fox stopped making shocks for street bikes in order to focus on products for dirt, ATV, and high end bicycles. if you want one without having to content yourself with simply waiting for one to appear on eBay, you have to be willing to adapt one for a similar model. Which is still far more economical than buying an aftermarket shock; I've put a lot of time into my Hurricane Twin Clicker, but even with purchasing it, modifying it, and having it rebuilt I'm still only about $200 in the hole, far less than the cheapest new aftermarket shock.

Sure, if you want to pay well over $1000. Penske is one of the few companies that are willing to make more of a 'discontinued' model. Of course, they need compensated for their trouble.

As mentioned, this thread is not for those with a budget that can tolerate such an endeavor. The rest of us need to find more cost effective means to the same end, that's exactly what we are discussing.
