Well I sold the Tuono and of course the next day I find a moto in desperate need of saving. Insert rollie eyes here.
She has had valve service and carb clean, but I will dig in anyway and verify. Came with a spare rear tire, original service manual and clymer manual. Best of all an actual title.
She is hammered but amazingly straight and includes a Staintune slip muffler.
I have evil plans for her but they will wait for another project to clear the work bench.
My $500 beauty. Bummed that she isn’t a 97 as mentioned by previous owner but 94 will just have to do.

Yeah, it was described as a light tip over on gravel. I couldn't figure out how he did it either.
    Positives:
    Runs
    Shifts
    No leaks
    Title
    Straight

    Negatives:
Tank - which I already knew
General corrosion - figured as much
Tach didn't work, but the lights/guages all work

    Bummer:
Fork stanchions are pretty bad. Either fork conversion with something cooler USD (929 Maybe?) or replacements of OE. boo

I have a tank for sale, but it is probably too nice (as in perfect condition) for this application.

Ooo. I will have to see once I get down the road. Let me know if it needs to go. I am hoping to start my build by late Dec. You are correct though. It might be better for someone trying to keep all original.
Either way that is real nice!

from what I can tell, 93 and 94 use different tanks correct?

    Absolutely. Not bolt-on cross compatible.

Thanks for the confirmation. There was a 93 with a nice tank and 8 spoke for 1200. Most of the bodywork is gone and it doesn't run. I might wait a month and low ball. But since the tank doesn't fit, it is cheaper just to buy the wheel by itself.

That's WAY too much for a RC36 missing most of the body work.

My first one I bought for the wheel (and Fox shock, and RT Springs, and Stainless brake lines) and flipped, had all the bodywork, title... $400
The '92 I have now I had to go all the way up to... $500.

Agreed. I'm, like.. wait and offer way less if I even bother. Probably won't bother in the end.

Granted, it took me quite a while to finalize the 92 deal, like almost a year I think. Think he wanted $1600 when first posted. And I was like, "ohhhh.... FUCK NO". Luckily he could not get it running and didn't destroy the carbs trying.

The 92 was initially listed before I even bought the 90, for which I ordered stock parts to swap out the cool parts, rebuilt the carbs and sold it. Perfect timing.

Are you re-building and going straight to trying to fit RC45 bodywork, or do you have enough pieces that you can assemble what you have to a "complete" bike for shake down rides?

The bike rides and runs. Transmission seems to work fine. I am going straight to the 45. I will have to make some alterations to the subframe and front fairing stay. I have a set of Yamaha FZR double rounds for the headlights and I will probably go with some small aftermarket signals. Tail lights might be stolen from my NC35 (squares) and possibly a custom inner rear fender with license plate bracket. I can't wait to start! I was thinking of going with a 929 front end so I can have USD forks. Not sure how wheel will fit. That is the biggest portion of IDK right now.

Tank and rear wheel are going to be last along with bodywork paint. I have an idea for custom paint, I just don't know how easy it will be or who will shoot it.

At some point start researching which bikes share the same disc spacing for the 929 front end. Might get lucky with a wheel that looks more at home with the 8 spoke.

The custom fitment is new to me, so is it best to compare parts list on partzilla (CMSNL) or do you have a different method? I was going to reach out to an Australian company that had made these replica bikes for information as well.

Depends on what forks and triples they are using, determining the width, Then you can also start playing around with discs that have different "dishing". A popular fork (that I'm always looking for), is the 94-95 CB1000 aka "Big One". 43mm conventional configuration, with quick release axle caps, like the RC30 for that look.

Researching mounted discs widths and how much dishing is not straight forward. I find I have to try to find what shared parts were used on the certain bikes, combined with scouring posts about how some people put together different stuff and determining how credible it sounded. Hopefully with pics as proof.

I'm still learning things about 1990 - 1997 front end parts compatibilities, and I've done a few custom mash-ups by now.
