    Hi,
So I've recently got a 1983 Honda VF750F and the Gauges seem to not move unless i smack the gauge cluster or rev really high, they are seemingly getting stuck id assume from the bike sitting for so long. Any ideas what could be causing this?
    Thanks in advance

They could simply be poor connections behind the cluster or further down in the harness. I would pull them and double check they are all the way plugged in. Could also be corrosion that need either vibration or max voltage to "wake up". Others know more than me..sorry

When you say "the Gauges", It seems you are referring to just the tachometer. Is that correct?

As stated, check all connections including the ones to the Engine Control Units flanking the taillight. One of them is responsible for the tach signal.
