    Good Day all!

    I'm in discussion with a gentleman to buy a 6th gen VFR800.
I identified 2 amber lights that I want to ask you about:

    1) The VIN label is missing from the frame. I haven't checked yet the other one on the forks. The question is: is that a red light, or is that relatively common practice? Or can it be a sign of a previous accident/repair? But if it's missing, isn't it an issue?

    2) The motorcycle's color is grey, but the fairings are black. Is that ok? Should this be specified in the ownership, or is that a color scheme? I haven't found it anywhere.

    Thank you!
    Cheers!

    1) The VIN is stamped in the steering stem casting of the frame. Find it and verify it matches the title.

    2) Not the end of world, likely was re-painted or replaced with other fairings. Usually from being wrecked, bikes are RARELY painted "just cuz".

A THOROUGH buyer's inspection is in order. If you don't know what to look for, bring somebody that does. Also mentioning that you might want to have it inspected by your mechanic at his shop (even if you don't have one) can be beneficial by noting their reaction and willingness.

    Thank you for your answer!
So the missing label is not a big issue, as long as the other one matches, right? I'll check the stamped one.
He claims the safety is pass, but being a 2 color motorcycle, not 100% matching the title, isn't that a magnet for the police, for example?

Nah. Bikes get painted and bodywork gets changed. Grey to black is not that drastic anyway. Shit, I have bikes that are original and the color on the title is wrong. And bikes that have been painted and never had an issue here.
