Also, what was the purpose of that puck? Some kind of dampener?

    Typically solid end in.

Some debate on the pucks. My vote is noise / squeal dampening.

    OK thanks Captain.

BTW....before posting my question(s) here - I perused all 3 of my references....FSM, Haynes, and Clymer....and let's just say I wouldn't feel the need to post my question(s) here if i could find the answers in these references.

Overall they do provide a lot of helpful info - but for the life of me I just don't get how they can miss the mark so much on so much more. The photos alone are ridiculous - many with so little contrast you can't actually see any detail. Many are also way too small.

This can be extremely aggravating....needless to say!

On the flip side it reinforces how GRATEFUL I am to be able to post my question(s) here and get the answers I need.

So THANK YOU to Captain 80's and others who also contribute - I'd be lost without ya'll! ;)

Ha.....well I brought her Hondaline helmet inside for a cleaning and just haven't returned it yet, so the baseball cap will have to do for now. :)

Pulled the carbs this morning. They look like good candidates for rebuilding. I also have a set already to go so will have to decide which way to go here. Plenty of time.

Some of the insulator clamps were in an interesting orientation. Access to the screws on a couple were from above. Never seen that before. They didn't seem very tight either. Rubber in very good condition - they are all OEM incl. the clamps.

    Lot of cleaning needed.......on everything!

After getting some advice from Joe/V4 Dreams on what's needed to address the cosmetics on this bike this morning - I have a new plan.

Get this bike up and running, swap the tank for the dented one on my other Blue bike...and sell this one locally. Hopefully to someone who wants to put the time and $ into what's needed.

I still have the Yellow RC26 that needs restoration and since was it my first, it has much more sentimental value than this one.

The other Blue bike isn't really all that bad of condition outside the dented tank, so I will still have a Blue RC26 in the quiver.

I think that is good advice taken and a good plan. That bike needs A LOT of work and you have plenty of other shit to do.

Thanks - been doing a lot of thinking lately about getting older and how I want to spend my time.

I just hope this one will run once I finish with the basics I'm working on.

    Hey...it's a Honda.....so......why not? :)

Happy Friday! 3 day weekend coming up. Hope it's a great one for everyone!

Think I'm going to try to replace the fuel tube o-rings on these carbs while doing the cleaning work. No doubt it's needs doing.

This is something I've not tried to do before, but I have the parts and will be utilizing the online tutorial on the V4 Dreams website #1 and #18):

    https://v4dreams.com/maintenance.html

Will post updates as appropriate and/or if I get stuck......:)

Not sure what the best approach would be to clean the EXTERIOR of the carb bodies so they look the best. I have an ultrasonic cleaner but have never done a carb body with it - only the parts I wanted cleaned of gunk like jets, etc.

This will not be for a "show" bike so not super important - but I'm trying to learn about options here for future use, as well.

I have seen these spray painted with silver paint too which doesn't look too bad.

    Thoughts?

When everything is assembled and body work is on... how much can you see? The float bowls. Sonic clean the details, but just gas/brush the bodies. There is little reason to introduce moisture into the butterfly shafts if you are not creating a BaT listing or going thru the velvet ropes on the Concours.

    My .02 that is free*

    * free does not include having to deal with me. That is a price/fee/cost... ask a bunch of people.

    Sounds good - thanks!

What is gas/brush? Gasoline and a soft or wire brush?
