Just spent 2 hours at one of two storage units holding most of my bikes. Went there to affix new registration stickers and also one of them had a low battery so was going to jump it.

Turned out two had low enough batteries I brought the batteries home to charge.

One of them started leaking fuel when I started it.....and another ran like crap, so probably going to need carb servicing.

Two started right up and ran great though!

Stuff like this is a reality check for those who own more than a small number of bikes. What's a small number? 3 or 4 I would say.

OK - both batteries charged to 100%. I will take my fuel bottle with me to help figure out where the fuel leak is coming from.

If it's not a fuel line, it might be the fuel tube o-rings or stuck float, I'm guessing. Everything I could see with the naked eye looked good after I removed the fuel tank.

Not sure if this means anything, but when it started leaking and I shut off the petcock, the leaking stopped....but the engine was able to continue running for another minute....with no fuel leaking out.

This is on the '86 with the red wheels I got out of Carolina. Ironically......this was the bike I had decided to take out of the storage unit and ride for this coming week.

Ran over tonight just before we got hit by a rain storm. Took the edge off the temperature and now I got this work done so can do other stuff tomorrow. :)

Got both batteries reinstalled and both bikes start right up.

The fuel leak in the '86 is still there but very very light - so as suspected it's probably a shrunken o-ring on one of the fuel tubes , I'm guessing.

I will bring her back home and make a point to ride her every day for a while and see if that resolves the leak.

Also, I'm not a fan of the cheap acid battery and may change it out to a Motobatt. I have a brand new one on hand anyway I was going to use on the next RC26 I have coming up to work on/revive.

At one point I had all 3 going, except the Red RC36. Reminded me of what we referred to in legendary 3 piece rock bands...James Gang, Rush, Hendrix, Cream, etc. etc.....

BTW.....of all 11 of my Interceptors.......the only one with an HRC sticker is the old Blue girl......on it when I acquired her......

    Few things:

    VERY cool, nice looking bunch.

Orings temporarily swelling back up does not "resolve" a leak. It delays the actual failure, which is often not at your storage unit or carport. THAT is a shitty afternoon.

On 86 red wheel, does the reg/rect just flop around above the tool kit area all the time?

I think adding some white "V4 GEAR DRIVEN CAMS" decals back onto the red stripe would help a lot by breaking it up as it goes all the way to the front of the cowl, down into the fasteners AND has a red t/s in it. Perhaps locate it right down the middle towards the t/s.

No flopping around on the regulator/rectifier. It just sits in that hole. Obviously not an ideal situation but for now doesn't seem to be doing any harm.

I hear ya about the o-rings. This morning when I went over and got her - no leaking. Bike runs perfectly. At some point it would be nice to schedule the o-ring work but will have to wait until I get other things done. In the meantime I will do a better job of getting some seat time on her. Like I said.....I had that in mind anyway until that leak appeared. She ran perfectly today. Just so enjoyable.

Thanks for your feedback and input, Captain - always heeded and appreciated!

    YES indeed......great idea!

I hope to be placing another decal/graphics order at some point this year and will add that to the list, for sure.

It's sacrilege to not have those on a gear driven V4! :)

I wonder if re-painting those turn signals to white would be an improvement (?) That red just seems out of place, to me.

    Funny story.....

After leaving the storage unit I ran by an account of mine to check on something. Then I stopped at a buddies house to show him my bike.

After leaving his place and on the way home the engine suddenly stopped while cruising through one of the neighborhoods. First thought was gas so I flipped the petcock onto reserve and still no start. Checked the fuel and there was plenty there. Then it dawned on me - I had accidentally hit the kill switch. Whew....easy fix!

Ive been trying to sell a few , I have 5 for sale, and not a single call of interest from a legit person. All bikes are very well priced (IMHO), nothing is selling here it seems

Seems I'm the only numb skull buying bikes these days. thats why im out of room and trying to sell a few.

Plus I tried to Trade my 2014 Valkyrie in on a 2022 Africa Twin DCT (I REALLY miss my Africa Twin, even though I love the BMW S1000XR), dealer wasn't interested, would only take it to off load to a wholesaler at stupid low $.

IDK, the economy here is in the crapper I guess and no one is parting with $

Well... those are actually kinda niche bikes there. I'm not that surpised. Except for the Hawk. A well appointed, good condition Hawk for a good price should sell. And if that one's not selling...

I think the F3 would have to be a DEAL for bites, unless someone was looking for their college bike or something. And if I remember right, yours was kinda the Smokin' Joe's colors, but not the Smokin' Joe's edition? Not my first pick for an F3.

Yes, mine is a 97 purple and yellow F3. My Favourite F3, but not everyones taste. The Hawk is as minty as they get.
