Thanks and yes...I remembered the advice you posted here. Didn't work the last try but did this time. I did a few things differently that I think helped. Thanks again! :)

She's running! Started right up! Obviously could use some tuning. ;) Fuel is hooked directly to carbs so next step will be to go through the fuel pump, which I know works because I can hear it when I turn the switch.

Another update. I changed the plugs today. Old ones were Iridiums and very sooty! I also turned the pilot screws in a turn to 2 1/2. Seems to run better. Idle has a tendency to stay up around 2K before settling down to around 700.

At some point I wouldn't mind pulling the carbs again and going back through them but for now I have to get this one off my table and get one of my older RC26's up there that needs attention. I'll work on the fuel tank tomorrow. I have a used one I bought that's in pretty good condition.

BTW...these twin Kerkers sound awesome...can't wait to get her on the road and wind it out a bit! ;)

Hanging idle is quite possibly caused by a lean condition.

    Thanks!

Plug pics....think these iridiums can be cleaned and saved or just toss 'em?

Thanks! So maybe try turning the pilot screws out more instead of in, like I did today?

I think I will get a few miles on her before trying any more tuning stuff. She's been sitting for a few years so probably run better afterwards....

OK, tonight I have been trying to get some of my spare parts better organized and was going to put these in a baggie to be cleaned up later. Thought I'd do a Google search and looks like you have to be careful with cleaning. Maybe some carb cleaner and a toothbrush. Probably some other cleaning agents would work. Sound about right? They do run around $10 each so worth saving I would think. Thanks!

This morning I filled the tank off my Euro RC15 with Evaporust. All the way to the tippy top. Took like 5 1/2 gallons. This is the same tank I was treating with electrolysis a couple months back. I was never satisfied with the electrolysis so going to try this method.

The plan is to get this tank in proper condition and put back on the Euro.....which it was on originally.....and then take the tank off the Euro, which is in great condition, and put it on this '84.

I ended up buying a 5 gallon bucket of the Evaporust. I already had 2 1/2 gallons of it, so started off pouring those in the tank. Then using a battery operated transfer pump re-filled the gallon jugs up from the bucket to pour into the tank until I got her filled up all the way. Now the bucket is empty and I have the balance of ER in the two gallons jugs to save for future needs. I will leave the ER in the tank until Thursday morning and then using the transfer pump, pump it into the next fuel tank. I have 2 more to do after this one. When those 2 tanks are done I will pump it back into the 5 gal. bucket.

I also put a new petcock on her and a new sender.

    A few pics from today......

    Happy Friday everyone!

OK after 3 days I finally squeezed in some time to get back on the fuel tanks. Set the next tank up and transferred the liquid into it. Then rinsed/flushed the treated tank out with water several times and now have a hair dryer blowing into it to dry everything out.

I have a hollowed out piece of palm trunk that holds the hair dryer up perfectly. I initially intended to use it to camo a trail camera, but now will save it for my motorcycle work...ha ha.

Does anyone know what the white tank went on? I thought an RC26. The blue RC15 tank has a bigger capacity by about 1/2 gallon, I found out.

OK I went ahead and swapped the tanks - so we'll see if the one I treated causes any issues on the Euro RC15 bike. I'm going to keep a close eye on the fuel filter. I filled the whole tank with non-ethanol gas so the flash rusting shouldn't be an issue.

I wonder as the fuel level drops if I'll have any more rusting inside. Guess I'll find out.....

I've never sealed a tank but am ready to do so if I need to. And would go with the Caswell epoxy product. I feel it's kinda a last resort.

Nice. The treated tanks should be fine during normal use. Fill them up for any storage time.

White tank appears to be RC24/26.

Thanks, Capt! Always appreciate your expertise and knowledge! ;)

OK - all fairings are back on now and everything went OK. I wasn't the one who removed the fairings - but the seller who did, left me with all the appropriate hardware in a big baggie, thankfully. Wasn't hard to figure out but a couple times I did go take a look at my '83 Euro which I still have parked here at my house.

What I really like is how I added to my knowledge of this bike today. So next time I can dive right in without hesitation for any kind of repair or service work. That's the best part right there. Because WE KNOW there will be more work to do - there always is! :D

For this bike it will be bringing the fairings back into OEM specs.

But that will be down the road after I get at these last 2 RC26's waiting in the wings.

I shot a video showing what I have to date.

Once again THANK YOU to all here - you guys are amazing! :)

PS - Yeah I know - the idle is a little high - I turned it down a tad after I shot the video.

Little behind schedule but tonight decided to take the girl out tonight - but a fuel leak has delayed things. Not a big deal - just something with the lines from the tank to the carbs via the fuel pump. I was going to remove the fuel tank anyway to install those rubber cushions that go on each side I forgot to install.

So I elected to take the '83 Euro out. All that went fine - gave her a pretty good run here on the island but noticed the temp gauge going up so brought her back home and will check coolant level tomorrow.

Also - need to go over the suspension - dang thing goes over bumps like a brick! Clunk clunk!

Lastly - it was the new RC26's turn. The white one I just bought. Now she ran fine....as in PURRFECT!!! Idle is around 1800 so I think that could use a downward adjustment.

So now while I have a little break, I'm going to resume work on getting some mounts installed for my Go-Pro camera. One on my helmet for sure and then one with a clamp for my bikes that is portable. Getting some riding vids is going to be so cool!

Well today was the day to finally get her off the lift table and out for a test ride.

Everything went great except sounds like I still have some work to do on the fuel system. Some stumbling on acceleration but bike felt great otherwise.

The sound of these twin Kerkers is something else, too!

Worse case scenario is I take the carbs back off and go through them again.
