    There's some classic BAT

I always hear it my mind as Rod Roddy's voice from the Price is Right

    image579541x.jpg

    "It's a NEW BIKE!!
    • Two-Up Seat
    • Tinted Windscreen
    • Four Keihin Carburetors
    • Twin Two-Into-One Exhausts
    and California Emissions!"

And, no it's not "Twin Two-Into-One Exhausts"

Was just comparing this one with mine and noticed the winged Honda fuel tank decal on mine is different.

Anyone care to opine why - other than mine is not the original thus has to be a replacement?

    Mine:

And a couple fuel tanks in my inventory:

Even my Euro has the orange/red combo wings.......

It is possible yours has sun bleached? And the one different darker portion survived because of its tint/color?

I have an original VFR750F tank that is very similar.

I don't see why anyone would make a replica with just that portion of the wing colored.

Your V45 decal kinda supports my theory.

No idea.......maybe this isn't the original tank.

To make things even more interesting....check out the left side:

The cosmetics on mine aren't great so doesn't look like anyone went out of their way to maintain it as pristine.

As an example.....there's some decals applied to the top which I intend to remove one day. You can see them on the above photo.

Next chance I get I will take a closer look. Wasn't really on my radar until I compared pics just now.

    Thanks for the thoughts, guys.......

See how the left side that is usually not in as much direct sun because of the side stand is inbetween? And the next shade is starting to go.

The top of the blue stripe on the upper cowl shows it has been in the sun A LOT.

Like I said, I have a VFR tank that is definitely original, and looks the same.

Good point.....that's must be what happened. No sense in replacing just the decal until the whole thing gets a re-paint. If that ever happens. There's a big part of me that really loves vintage looking stuff. With all the warts that come with it.

Plus the old saying......."It's only original once!"

OK back to the thread topic........I'll go out on a limb and make a guesstimate this baby brings $4.5K. Might be optimistic --- but would do my heart good to see that happen, anyway....:)
