Well hell, was so nice out this last weekend thought I'd try my take at making a sound video of my Viffer, turned out not to bad for a beginner video doof. Was shot at the local State office Parking garage where they have the main street running right through the middle of it, so makes for a nice place to hear what thy VFR sounds like

That video just reminded me of why I will never own a soulless inline engine again...

The difference in sound between the inlines and the V4 is an awesome catch.... The inlines sound like Formula one, High rpm shriek. The V4 sounds like the American LeMans Series..... I listened to that part over and over....

That was way cooler to watch listen to, then just the audio files, or a bike revv'ed in the driveway. The gear whine at low RPM is missed in my 6th gen.... (I feel a tear welling up, nope, that was just gas... my bike rocks :)

With you 100%, I love listening the bikes own music and the VFR's V4 with a good exhaust always sound brilliant, just need to try and find the best way to minimise wind roar, some have tried clear sticky tape over the camera mic or putting external mic in something like a tank bag.

Headphones on below link is my favourite Youtube bike/VFR sound linky especially from the 1:11 minute mark the Gen 5 sounds exactly the same as I hear mine when Fanging:

I love the sound of the Honda V four, that was actually why I bought mine. Many different bikes met my criteria, but none had the wail of the v four. I specifically looked for a VFR with a pipe, so I bought one with a Staintune exhaust. That's a great video. I love the sound of the v four over the inlines, they just sound so soulless to me. I think the v fours sounds a little like a NASCAR engine, which makes sense to me, since they are running v8s at the same V angle at half the RPM.

Approximately $125.00 for the gear indicator, looks like the guy in the video did a pretty good job on the install, he got behind his dash and replaced the Neutral light with the gear indicator...

I absolutely agree with my mate. That's the difference. and Inline 4s are different one another as V4s are, too: compare a Vf750F with a VFR750F.
For example Kawasakis' engine are considered great emotion buiders when revving, with aspiration sound, too. But they are not the only ones..
A war between engine sounds is the worst we can do.

I myself prefer longer 4 cylinders' sound, if compared to V twins, it doesnt matter if inline or V mounted. Also 3 cyl. are great. Each of these architecture means a lot, expresses a lot and touches the soul.

Agree the Big K's ZX-9R or a GiXeR 750 with a good aftermarket Can sounds spine tingling exciting when wrung out at stratospheric Rev's but in my opinion most IL4's are mind bogglingly dull in the lower or when tooling around town in middle Rev's.

Considering the Low to Mid area's are most commonly used for day to day riding it is in this range VFR's V4 configuration sounds magnificent yet still goes on to sound brilliant when wrung out.

There are many great V4 sound bites around including this links RVFR's "Tunnel Fun " therefore as a way of illustration have added these other 2 short vid links that I quite like that contain Low and middle Revs sound:
