Some surface rust in the fuel tank but Evapo-rust would probably clear it up.

    Nice looking machine!

The Euro tanks look so good on the 1000R. I've seen somebody use a VF750F tank as a replica.

Yes. But in the before times when painting it in 1000R colors wasn't $1000+.

The red CB-1 was painted in the before times by an Autobody Shop across the street from the Honda Shop. Think it was $200, and that included doing some bodywork on a dented tank. AND they applied the decals... perfectly. Then cleared everything.

You may remember the fellow I bought my last one from - the '84 - paints for a living. He's located about a 30 minute or so drive away (Casselberry).

He's the one who re-painted the fairings white in preparation to restore the original livery.

I may reach out to him about finishing the job on this bike. Would be using one of the tanks I posted pics of - probably the one without the dents...:)

But first I will hit up a couple local shops. Logistically it'd be easier.

I need to research the paint codes again first and get her running of course.

I've heard some mixed reports with Colorite matches.

I'll relay some info on modern equivalents a little later. I think straycat posted some colors that worked out real nice for him.

I have sprayed a VF1000F fender in Sonic Blue and it is good. Here is the spray out test I did.

And here are some alternatives from someone who had the colors matched in PPG for touch up. He has good attention to detail and he was happy.
