Thanks, Captain! I mean.....how often do you find a used fuel tank not only with no dents but still has it's sending unit, petcock, and cap with TWO Honda brand keys with the key code on them!

I could use your input on the aftermarket headlight fairing and side fairings. Any idea where they came from?

The side fairings had labels on the inside but were painted over (black) and the only other identifying mark on them is the number "658" on the inner edge:

    IMG_4712.JPG

Those front blinkers......do they look like the ones from the eBay guy in Europe we talked about a while back?

    IMG_4725.JPG

I plan to stick with my Honda OEM headlight fairing but might use those side fairings when I get to that point.

    Thanks for any thoughts! ;)

What are the ipper cowl and side fairings made of?

The blinkers are generic sort-of-replicas of some Honda ones. Lockhart-Philips made and sold a SHITTE-TONNE of them in the late 80s and 90s.

That texture on the inside of the upper cowl is glass.

Re: upper cowl....maybe the whole thing is glass but it just looks like ABS on the outside.

Here's the insides of the lowers....no texture at all......

I think the lowers are Meier ABS pieces. I have set that is going on the next VFR750F build. They did a lot of enduro / dual sport type stuff primarily.

If those are them, they are high quality pieces I've only handled or seen in person once... mine.

But if they are super thin and light, they might be glass that has been gel coated on the inside too. The Meier pieces feel like you are handling an OEM piece.

They look similar to the carbon bits I have on one track bike.

Washed the bike this morning. Cosmetically it is very challenged and will need a LOT of work to be presentable again. Hope I'm up for the challenge.

But while washing the bike.......look what I found. I THOUGHT I had removed the tool kit years ago! Son of a gun. In really nice condition too.

Some personalization on the bike from the previous owner.

"Zero Gravity" on the front and "Daytona" on the back.

Also on the two side fairings..."Twin Cam Interceptor".......

And check out how short this blinker stalk is that came off one side in front....never seen one this short before! The other 2 on the left are what I'm used to seeing.....

how 'bout some new paint on clutch and alternator covers next ? id suggest removing the rust from the pipes leading the muffler, looks terrible. thermostat housing needs paint too. carry on.

The one on the far right is the VF500F front stay. The shortest of that stay design they put out. I always try and snag any OEM examples that are reasonable and in good shape. Most aftermarket ones are floppy and bad.

There's so much surface corrosion and paint fail it'll probably require a frame off restoration to do what's needed here.

I can see some powder coating as well on certain items.

I don't see it ever being a show bike but hopefully would look like a decent restored example.

I've never done anything like this so it will be a real educational experience!

I still have 2 bikes ahead of it so not going to happen for a little while. I wanted to get some of these parts off it so they wouldn't get damaged while I move things around here.
