Based on discussions in this thread:
    https://vfrworld.com/threads/braided-brake-line-kit.61271/
I decided that I'd try and de-link my VFR, by replacing the front fork with a VTR1000 and the front brakes with some from a CBR954RR.

So, first I removed all of the old braking system.

Then, I started the conversion by removing some material from the bottom fork mounting points. (See images 1657-1663)

Next, I designed a 3D printed bracket, to be able to fit the VFR mudguard on the VTR forks. The brackets in picture 1715 has cut threads into them, but these will be replaced by melt-in brass types before I take the bike into use. (I will be sharing theese on thingiverse when I have tested the final version, if anybody is interested)

But now I have a bit of a problem when trying the CBR954 calipers with the VFR wheel. The caliper doesn't align well with the disc. It seems like I need a spacers of about 2.5mm to get the calipers to align properly.
Did any of you, that did this conversion, have the same problem?
What do I do about this? Can I just use some precision spacers in alu or stainless steel?
(To me it seems wrong to use spacers)

    Nice work with the adapters!
I just did all this like minutes ago but opted a smaller fender. And my calipers are not show condition so shaved a little of them instead of the uprights.

Yes, you need to space the calipers inward. I used stainless steel washers. I measured them quickly and it is Moore than precise enough.
If you feel uncomfortable with this just sand them flatter on a surface covered with a piece of sandp
    aper.

    Thanks Kenneth
Nice conversion you did. I'm still using a VFR caliper in the rear and a CBR600f4 rear master, with the VFR reservoir.
I'm not too proud of the small brakeline jumper that I needed on the rear caliper.

I've thought about using some of theese spacers:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/395114428563?
...but maybe I should just try ordinary washers.

Are you satisfied with the braking performance of the front brakes after the conversion?

Your rear spring looks nice, what type is that? I'm looking for a replacement too.

Thanks. I have alot of focus on getting the weight down, so the caliper had to go. And yeah, stealth level zero with that "jumper"hose as you say.

Those spacers would be perfect of course. But as long as the washer rests on the entire surface of the caliper you'll be fine. Remember it's 4 pistons so as long as the caliper is not rubbing it's good to go. Everything is self "leveling"
The correct way of course is to equalize the gap from caliper to disc so that the pistons have equal travel.

Also the vtr bolts will be to short to fully thread when spaced.

It has not moved at all yet so the braking is yet to be tested. There was alot on the plate so happy spring did not show yet.

I'm full matris dampers and shock now so the spring is not touched as it was ordered for my weight.

Miguel, I believe I am using some standard off the shelf washers from the hardware store to get a better line up on the calipers to rotor.
I dont notice any problem with it, even after better than 10 years plus of running it. Still like this set up after all this time. Also used some high grade socket head bolts for the caliper to fork attachment.

Excellent job on the fender brackets...

I de-linked an ST1300 using all the stock components except for a replacement master cylinder.

The easy fix is to use the donor cycle wheel and fender, but then your wheels will not match.

The next easiest fix is to de-linked with all the OEM stuff but for a MC changeout.

After that, different wheel, different rotor, spacer games, are your options. To me, those are way more difficult and time consuming.

Awesome. The way the bike should have came in the first place. Enjoy.

I'm about to make the same swap (fork and calipers are on the way) and I'm going to make the same: couple of washers... et voilà

@MiguelDK : many thanks for your STL files :)
