I reently bought my first 83 VF750F I have a rattle from what I have read on here it is either the cam cahin tensioners or the cams. I am going to be taking it aprt tomorrow to begin trying to figure it out. I have a Honda service Manual and plenty of tools and mechanical ability. What I am wondering is are there any tricks I need to know to do this job. It seems pretty straight forward, just wondering if if anyone who has done it has come across anything that is not in the book. Any help would be appreciated

More than likely the Cam chain tensioners.. I changed them out on my VF750F three times... It's most noticable when you first start it in the morning and when idling.

They are not hard to replace , just be careful nothing falls down inside the engine.

Dont drop the Chain! Tie some mechanics wire and or a string around the timing chain BEFORE you remove the cam and tie them off to the something to keep some tension on it so it does not double up down in the case! I then pack the chain slot with paper towls to prevent other things from falling in. Im not sure if replacing the tensionor requres removing the chain or not. Grear driven cams RULE!
