I sent him a message about selling just the 750.

    Also asking about the fairings.

    Will report back....

Thanks. We'll see. Some yet to be determined info on the bike.

In some ways I feel less motivated then before, but worth looking into anyway.

What was so nice about it before was the fairings in such great and original condition. Not perfect but better than most you'd see on bikes this old.

    OK here's the skinny.

Bike had been re-painted prior. This fella didn't like the way that paint job looked (edges sticking up on stripes, over spray, etc.) and decided to repaint it starting with a pearl white base, which he did. He paints for a living, so was a no-brainer for him.

Then come to find out the tank off the 1000 didn't fit. That's when he said screw it and put both up for sale.

The 1000 he got at a yard sale - was in the garage and hadn't been run since the 90's.

I made him an offer on the 750 for him to bring it to me, so we'll see what happens.

I asked enough questions to have a handle on it's current condition and the seller seems to be a straight shooter.

Gen 4 is old junk compared to a new 2024 Honda … it’s all perspective. You can’t put a price on riding a bike you loved in your your youth. The pride of ownership is priceless. Keep your gen 4 squirrel… I’ll ride my gen 1 with pride.

    Well said, Six!

Maybe he was just kidding - hard to say.

My work truck is an '02 Silverado with over 235K miles on her. She's not as pretty now after so many years on the job, but still presentable. Sure most guys in the trades now have newer trucks than mine. But I still prefer the looks of mine over theirs...and I love how mine performs! That 4.8 Vortec still purrs like a kitten!

    :)

I hear ya, Six. I think I've mentioned here before how enjoyable my '77 BMW R75-5 is to ride.....quite possibly more enjoyable than any of my others!
You don't have to go to the 3rd gen to get gear driven cam Interceptors. Heck, 5 of my Interceptors are 2nd Gen...and I do have a 3rd gen...but it's an EARLY 3rd gen....a '90! :D

No doubt dude! OLD JUNK. Cam Gear Train Rulz!!

Can't stand how they have lumped the new, improved technology with the old ass antiquated antiques. They need their own forum to gather dust in.
