Suggest you look at a map. Or use the one CL so graciously provided.

Is it just me.... or is that really strong money for a rider in that kind of shape? If we're on "The Price is Right" and you read that ad, I'd be more inclined to say 3-4K.

It's high. He's trying to flip it, and that's what he needs (wants) to have made it worth his time. I'd probably start around there too, you never know these days.

Not sure if the rear has been resprayed too, but the stripes are configured as an 86. Which I think is an improvement, the 85 scheme doesn't flow or match either year.

I really like how detailed Eric was in his description and narrative of what's been done and his approach to the bike and in general.

Also thought this was an interesting aspect:

CASH ONLY sale with proof of recent withdrawal.

Not everyone has to make a "withdrawal" to have cash on hand.......

I personally don't care where cash comes from. I sold my 1990 VFR flip to who I surmised later was a likely drug dealer. Didn't bother me counting my cash over lunch. I have no idea where it actually came from.

Funny side story... After the deal was done I was still showing him a couple things on the bike and there was a big wad of cash on the ground! I snatched it up real quick and thought, "How the FUCK did that come out of my pocket?!". I must not have got it all the way in. So while counting my cash I realized I had $800 extra! He dropped it! I DID contact him and let him know. I did so good on my flip, it would have been "cursed" cash. And this dude had my address. When I finally hooked up with him, he was high as fuck. A VERY weird experience.

I agree 100%..... dude is very thorough and forthcoming with his description and pics. Full marks for that, I think we've all been disappointed by what we see in person vs the pics/verbal stories during initial conversations. Captain 80's is correct tho.... your price can always go down, but never up. No idea what's going on with the "proof of recent withdrawal" stuff... is counterfeiting still a common thing in the US?

Not sure I understand the proof of withdrawl. I guess he doesn't want drug money. I take all the monies! :)

Maybe he has had instances where a buyer says I’ll bring cash or have cash and show up empty handed or not enough funds

Proof of withdrawal won't change that. You either have (enough) cash or you don't.

Fucking bizarre and would make me not want to deal with him at all. You want a note from my Mommy that says I can ride a motorbike too?

I just texted him to inquire what that is about.

I said if I were to travel to look at your bike, I would either have cash or I wouldn't.

I was in sales for a number of years and my company invested a lot of time and effort in educating it's sales force how to "sell".

It's not rocket science but there is a lot to be said for clearly communicating what you are selling and adding additional visual aids and background info. Which this person did.

Regarding the proof of withdrawal......I don't think that would be an issue at all, based on they way he scripted his ad. Nowadays....we are freaking surrounded by low lifes trying to rip anyone or anything off they can. I think he was just trying to set a tone in his terms not to try anything shady. Just speculation on my part.

Agree mostly. I have bought and sold A LOT of used vehicles in the private market, both for me and for other people. There are red flags that I have come to identify about what it would be like to "deal" with somebody. Or choose to NOT deal with them.

Bainbridge Island already is one in the minus category. At the Honda shop, it was referred to as "Braindead Island". It is also not easy to get to. So I would 100% need to know WTF is up with "proof of withdrawal" before I even decided to get out of my slippers.

    Captain's slippers for sure:
    upload_2024-2-8_14-39-46.png

The only time I've ever sold a bike to someone I didn't know was with my FZR600. I had so many sketchy inquiries I just started googling names and searching for the least threatening individual. The fact I listed a running bike at $900 probably contributed to the lunacy I was receiving. Even after selling it (I rode to the guy, met the guy at his work, my buddy picked me up) it was weird. I was later contacted by a different guy who had since bought the bike a few months later (he recognized the white frame from one of my fzr videos) and explained that the guy I sold it to was forced to sell it because it was a purchase not authorized by his wife. Likely why I met him at his work. So yea, I'm not a fan of selling bikes to people I don't know. Granted, you get more money selling bikes to people you don't know.
