Funny when I searched for turn signal relay - there's one from Great Britain on eBay that looks like mine (round) but all the others from the US are square.

Guess there are some differences between the two models I should be aware of other than the speedometer in KM's and the gold wheels......

No - does not run without the engine running. Doesn't run with key on....engine has to be running.....

Yeah. The fact that this was raced may be a clue.

Drain one of the carbs and see if the pump wants to re-fill by just turning on the key, not starting.

Normally the relay gets a signal from the spark unit if I remember.

Weird. Is it possible the winker relay is plugged in the wrong location?

    I'm grasping, I know.

Yep. That's how it's only energized by cranking or running.

I think on the early models the winker is 3 in a row.. that's how my Magna was. And the fuel cut relay was 3 pins but 2 on top and one below.

    Interceptor is probably different though

Go to CMSNL and find the correct Model / Market and do some looking on that parts diagram.

Interceptor is 3 in a row, flat connector, for fuel cut and winker.

Do the turn signals work too?

When I get fully dressed, I'll go out to the other garage and look at an 83.

Just did and looks like I have the right Blinker relay and the fuel pump cut off relay matches up with that empty connector I have so I just need to get that FP cutoff relay and should be set....

I'm not seeing a lot of butchered stuff on the bike. It's all pretty much unmolested. Except the turn signals

Update............just went out and checked and looks like I had the fuel pump cut connector plugged into the blinker relay. I swapped with the loose one in the photo and now my blinkers are working but the engine does not start/run.

When I say the blinkers work......they light up but do not blink on and off. So another mystery to solve.

In theory I can jump the fuel pump cut connector then to be able to run the engine? It has a black, white, and blue wire. Which ones do I jump?

I have a new relay coming but won't be here until Tuesday.....

Black and blue... I think on that one.

With the key on you'll know. You can't fuck anything up by having it wrong.

Mental note... Turn signal relay might be a quick, temp fuel cut relay jump.

    OK thanks.

Blinkers are now working, except missing the right rear one. I'll be changing out to the factory versions anyway but at least we know they are working as they should be.

Jumped the FP connector and engine didn't start.

Reconnected gravity fuel bottle and engine started and ran.

Problem now isolated (I'm hoping) to fuel pump and/or cut relay.

I took the fuel filter out and blew through it - fine there.

I think my fuel pump is non-functional now. I will investigate further.

It was working when I installed it because I tested it then. I will do that one more time.

I do have a used Mitsu FP coming in the mail but won't get here for a few days.....

if you have a toggle switch or pushbutton to power the pump, there is NO NEED for a relay.
