The Fox Shock for the 92 is going out for service today. Took the remote res apart and swapped in a grey body since it will be visible. Didn't want an anodized blue one hanging out, the blue one will look right at home on the Fox for one of the 86 VFR that I pulled the gray remote res tube from.

There's a few more things I wanna do over the winter, but most involve having the bike far enough apart again (now that I know it runs good) that it makes sense to swap in the final shock at that time, and service the linkage.

Fox back from being rebuilt. Looks great.

Now I get to take the bike back apart. Install the shock, service the linkage. Gonna pull the crankcase covers to restore and freshen up the clutch while I'm in there. Also have an intermediate exhaust experiment I want to work on, and in any case the exhaust is nasty and needs to come off.

I don't understand? I called Fox, and they said they don't support TC or motorcycle shocks for that matter.

They don't. Thor Lawson performed the work.

    http://www.evolutionsuspensionproducts.com/

He supplied a bunch of original literature when he returned the rebuilt shock. Excellent workmanship.

When my suspension guy had to stop for Family reasons, he said this is the guy.

They haven't made or serviced motorcycle shocks in years, but any shop could do the work.

Yeah, any decent suspension shop can get the kit and do the work. What I like about Evolution is that he has some serious inventory of vintage / classic shock parts, not just seal kits, if something is needed. He offers full restoration services if needed / wanted too.

I learned something when I was talking to Fox today, if you want I can relate it to you, just not on the public forum. Nothing earth breaking but interesting none the less. My shock body was wasted, the shop that I had do the rebuild on my TC had to dip into the parts from the past and swap out my shock body as the old one was too worn. It is the same height eye to eye, I just had to raise the ride height.

I am happy with it, would be nice to have a factory service that at least acknowledged you though. At least Penske will over haul their unit, same goes for Works Performance. Cheers

Lots of Fox compenonets mix n match. Also not Earth breaking, but I swapped in the grey remote body for the blue one the shock had before I sent it out. It will be visible where I'm going to mount it and wanted this one.

Works was closed for quite a few years, wasn't too long ago the daughter reopened it and they now service legacy shocks too. Thor does Works too.

Thor restored the Fox shock for my 86 earlier this year, it looks and feels bad ass!

Mrs. Google thinks that Thors and Evolution are the same. Are they? I wouldn't mind having a backup place from Thermosman. The one I tried last sucked at all of it.

Thor Lawson IS Evolution Suspension. His specialty seems to be Vintage / Classic, which is the shit I need worked on and rebuilt.

He does a lot of Vintage / Evo motocross stuff, which is what my suspension guy focused on and how I got the referral.

Very likely. They are pretty recognizable by their reservoirs and adjusters.

Getting ready to send a Fox TC just like Smitty's for one of my 86 VFR and an Ohlins for the 86 FII. The Ohlins was given to me (!), so no problem spending the dough on a rebuild. The gold accented shock will look great on it, just gotta figure where I want to hang the remote before hand in case I want / need a longer hose.

Captain, what was the turn-around time for yours? I think mine was 3-4-weeks.

92 is on the lift for upgrade round 2.

First is making some mods to mount the Fox remote res where I wanted it. Came out good.

    PXL_20231231_235932454.jpg
I purposely left a good chunk of the right passenger peg just for this purpose, besides the fact it is also the cowl mount. Res hose routes across with the brake line and then up to the shock on the left side. I re-installed the inner fender and no issues with the battery box at all.

Pretty happy with it. Gonna look trick up in front of the muffler.

It is nice to hang the reservoir out for all to see that you have put a decent shock on!

Yeah, def some bling motivation. I might have taken some vacant real estate on the left, but I like access to the handle I kept even though I didn't keep the center stand. Plus, I have a left exit Two Brothers I'm working on if I can get the muffler where I want it, which would be very close to where a shock remote would be. That exhaust is not in this round, but I do have an exhaust change in the works.
