Hello guys. Bought a 2005 VFR and looks like my voltage is creeping up to about 15.6V. I changed the stator, no change. I changed the regulator, no change. Finally, I traced it back to the signal wire from the reg/rec, so i shorted the + wire with the signal wire from the reg/rec and it is stabilized at 14.5V or less. All good and dandy, but i cannot shut down the engine. So i put a switch on that wire and everything "looks" ok. My question is "why?". the signal wire is connected to the + wire from the reg/rec anyway. I was trying to trace the signal wire to see where is it going on the bike (not on the diagram, The diagram shows connected to the + wire). but i lost it very quick as it goes under the frame in a big bundle. I am open to any suggestions.

    I’m
I don’t think so. I bought it from Fortnite in Quebec. The R/R check out. I measure the diodes and even the old one is good, but I thought why not?

And your Ignition Switch wiring is all stock standard??
Does the Kill Switch shut down the engine.??

Everything works. I had to take it to a mechanic to certify it before I registered. Everything works. I don’t know if you have the diagram for the electrical system but when I look at it, it is pretty straight forward.

Everything works! But you can't turn the engine Off! Never heard of this.....
The need to have an on/off Switch in series with the Voltage Sense wire to turn the engine Off sounds radical beyond belief!

So, once again, does activating the Kill Switch Stop The Engine? Yes or No?

As a starting point, suggest you have a Very Good look at what's going on with the ESR (Engine Stop Relay). Measure the coil voltage that comes from the kill switch and Ground via the BAS, make sure the ESR is operating normally.
A shorted ESR (jammed on or welded main contacts), modified wiring, or a Red/White power wire to the Black/White wire short, might be keeping power On the EFI system main power wire (being the Black/White wire), it's about the only thing that can keep the engine going with either the Ignition, or the Kill Switch to OFF!!

Any doubts about the ESR you could swap it with the Hi Beam Relay.

    For Info.......
With Ignition to OFF, Both Ground and Power is removed from the ESR coil, which under normal conditions, makes it impossible for the engine to run! The R/R voltage sense wire should have absolutely No effect on keeping an engine running.
The R/R Voltage Sense wire was originally wired into the load side of Sub Fuse C 10amp Starter/Stop/BAS.

Ok. I will try that. This is what I don’t understand why this is happening with the shunt between + and signal wire. The signal wire should be connected to the + wire anyway… For me the biggest concern is that signal wire. I thing the whole problem revolves around the signal wire. Maybe he did something with it down the line….
