While some like the traditional, the OEM paint was super ugly on the right case. Large chips of paint missing , road rash, oils…etc. Time to try the vapor hone for the entire reason I purchased it. Revive old aluminum. Pics of before paint strip in previous posts and now the end result. Clear coat will be added. 7C416C8D-D474-471B-BF48-F2770AAC5BF2.jpeg BDB33A23-4AF9-45D6-92E8-81612AE8C3FC.jpeg

Looks pretty good I think. Not 100%, but this is a prep for sale. I also spent the $18 for a new mini cover and $20 for an OEM gasket .. 2229276D-95A2-4661-95F8-C548100AF64F.jpeg

So while getting my equipment ready today I totally rashed one hand and burnt the other. Tripped and fell on the HOT exhaust manifold of my compressor with the palm of my left hand while simultaneously running my right knuckles across the stucco on my house. Why would I tell this story….
Blood sacrifice for the moto gods. Totally worked too!
Both of my turn signal sets showed up today, so I could wire up new signals. The side case came out really well. Somehow the guy saved the original flasher that was not present on the bike in a bag of junk he handed me and it still works. The bike idles really well. Might be worth it to pay the toll every now and then. Honda but listed from a CBR600. Not to pricey and they work. image.jpg

They look good. Just a more rounded version of the original. CBR and VTR1000 were some of the first to get them.

Oh, and good job dumbass. Haha!

I had good luck using citrus based paint stripper removing the brown powdercoat from side cases. The results aren't nearly as pretty as media blasting/vapour blasting but takes less effort.
I coated the cases with citristrip with a paint brush and wrapped in plastic for 24hrs. Then scraped off most of the goop with a plastic ID card and used a steam cleaner to remove the small bits.
The aluminum looks oxidized in some places and has some roadrash but I'm happy with the results for relatively low time investment.
I will note citristrip didn't touch the paint on brake calipers nor some other powercoated frame brackets.
