Back to Seca, but only for a track day. Bikes loaded and ready to travel! NSR250 and my Tuono Factory, neither of which is a VFR but whatever. image.jpg

Post pics, vid, and notes! I've watched there, but never ridden on track.

Hell yea! I just re-watched The Doctor, the Tornado & the Kentucky Kid last night after getting home from the ASRA race weekend, so I've got Laguna Seca on my mind.

Hope you have fun! If you shoot any pics or videos we'd love to see them!

More details next week. Work has been a busy AF. I should have some pro photos accessible soon from the track day. I rode with Adam for a bit.. lol didn’t last long since nearly everyone was riding on 180+ HP machines vs my 55.

The NSR was quite the conversation piece though. One guy stopped by several times to see when I would be running. He just wanted to hear it go. Lol.
The repave was amazing. The weather was perfect. 75* and sunny with a slight cool breeze from the ocean.

The NSR needs softer tires. I am a front end guy, and the little bike just never really felt glued. She wasn’t misbehaving, but no real feedback. Next time I will get some nice sticky Pirelli. SC1 on the front and back. I used almost no tire after two sessions. Besides ridding myself of chicken strips, you would never have know I was riding to my max at Laguna. Lol

The Tuono was crazy. Soooo much torque! She just passed 3k total mileage at the track, so I didn’t run her to redline. I still scared myself…even with all of the tech. I need to check, but I think I hit 140+ on most laps.

The mission was to ride both bikes, set up both suspension systems and not crash. I achieved all of that thankfully! I also rode thr Tuono 660. Hell yeah, that makes a great modern SV650 track bike! I believe my lap times were fastest on that little devil. I recommend one for a great all rounder that won’t break the bank. Although I think I cooked the rotors. That or I started pushing so hard it was exposing a slight warping already present.

paying the extra money for less riders on the track was worth it. I had so much open track! Next year come on out with me! Oh and I missed Max Biaggi by minutes to sign my jacket. Next year!

here is our pit, some actions and a good bye Seca crying photo. Lol D5D1BFA4-390E-48D5-8C15-AA949D756947.jpeg 330DB454-61F4-4A66-9798-B45DA5FB2A54.jpeg 9FAD953D-C9BD-49C2-851D-1A3E9015EBBE.png 7512185E-9174-4437-A161-2DAF4AAC5EA0.jpeg

That NSR is so damn cool. Awesome to hear you had a great day and got to ride multiple bikes as well! Paying extra for the less-crowded rider day is absolutely the way to go--especially on Laguna or a similar track that could create a bunch of choke points depending on the organization's passing rules.

Thanks dudes! I can’t say I didn’t have some on track moments, but overall it was great to be back on a real track. 13 years since my last ride at Seca. FYI I seem to be as large as you can be on an NSR250. Hahaha

Side question, can this port on the ‘86 be used for an oil pressure gauge? The m6 with a 10mm head in the center of photo. image.jpg

Good Movie. Im convinced it was initially supposed to be caller "Hopper, the Tornado and the Kentucky Kid " -- all about the American riders. There is alot of John Hopkins in that movie and almost no Rossi, but they changed it to sell more copies. Good movie none the less. That early scene where that Repsol Honda mechanic wheels that bike around on a dime outside the garage always amazes me

It was a good movie. Needed more than Hopper, but good none the less.

    "port"? Isn't that a crankcase-halves joining bolt?

I would think where the oil pressure sending unit threads in would be the place to plumb in a gauge instead of a light. Maybe you could install a fitting and split it to both?

Crank case halves bolt? It is verticle just below behind the
I have never taken a VFR engine down before. Looking at the exploded view on CMSNL, you are correct. I assumed that they left the fitting near the location they were pulling pressure from. #18
FYI I didn't know that the engine splits top and bottom. See how little I know. I learned yet another thing about my bike!!
    Case split.png

That is a good idea. I will need to figure out the thread pitch and see about running both items.

If the thread pitch is anything like the RVF, it is a British Standard Pipe thread.
