I didn't find the inner weights that critical for the VFR. They are for vibration dampening, and since the VFR is a smooth running bike you may not notice much improvement. I ran one of mine with the police kit for thousands of miles with bar ends only. I only added some inner weights to that bike later as I had another Webike order in for some Hurricane stuff and tossed some weights on the order.

Try the handlebar with just some bar ends. If you feel like you're picking up some excessive engine buzzing in your hands you can always stuff some inner weights in later.

Perfect, thank you so much for taking the time out to share your advice and experience.

I don’t think there is much more I need to ask about in the interim, it’ll be more about getting the conversion sorted and out the way.

Once I’ve done so I’ll update the thread with my experiences and some pictures, hopefully it’ll help someone out if they contemplate a similar upgrade in due time.

If all is well, it’ll keep me happy for many more miles to come! Considering it only has 8000 miles on the clock I’d imagine it’ll last

    Cheers

FWIW, I had the Vibranators with my old Helibars, and they worked great. But, while they fit in the
Hurricane bars, they don't dampen the vibration like they did with the Helibars. I had forgotten the
buzz of the VFR after so many years with the Vibranators. I'm looking to get something but haven't
settled on what yet. So, yes, I would spend the money on some kind of damper.

The OEM Honda inner balance weights will fit, it's just a tight squeeze. if you can extract them from the clip ons being removed they can be used. Lube up the weight o-rings with some dish soap or similar. I used them in the first install and capped the handlebar with universal bar ends.

Someone mentioned in another thread there is currently a lead time on Hurricane stuff. You can do a stock inquiry with Webike for the kit.

Thank you for that heads-up. I still have them, and will give them a shot.

    Evening All,

vfrgiving might know the answer to this one, when ordering Bar Ends on WeBike, do they come as a pair when ordering or are they ordered as single units?

WeBike doesn't specify what the case is and the last thing I want is to not order enough bar ends given the import taxes and delivery fees involved.

    Hello All,

After much consideration, I went for the HBK606A kit instead of the full Police Handlebar Kit as I wanted to retain a degree of sportiness to the bike whilst fixing the seating position issue (Primarily Forward Lean Angle / Wrist Pressure) and minimising the level of mechanical intervention required (No Requirement to Change Brake / Clutch Lines etc.)

Based on MotorcycleErgo, this kit will change the lean angle from 30 degrees to 13 degrees which is much more manageable. I have also purchased some new, heavier bar ends to go with them to hopefully level out some annoying vibration I get through the grips, if not, some Grip Puppies should do the trick :)

Based on WeBike' projections, I should have the kit in a week or two. Once I have all the parts I am going to self-fit the kit before resorting to my local motorcycle service centre for installation. Once the kit is installed, I'll post up some more photos and provide my thoughts on the ordering and fitment process, specifically for those that may be interested in this specific kit and how the process works for those living in the UK given current market conditions.

    Cheers

    Evening All,

Took delivery this afternoon, install is scheduled for Sunday. Got to say, I am impressed with this kit so far and WeBike were fantastic! Photos to follow.

Firebolt, any updates? I just ordered the same kit from webbike for my 2000. Looking forward to more input from HBK606A users.

    Thanks!

The install of that smaller Hurricane kit should be incredibly easy.

Unbolt the clutch and brake reservoirs. Remove bar ends and slide grips off. Remove two screws from bottom of left and right controls, split open. Loosen the pinch bolts on the clip-ons. Remove the retaining rings from the top of the fork tubes if still present. Slide clip-ons up and off, slide controls off clip ons.

Set Hurricane underbrackets over fork tubes resting on top bridge. Slide controls on Hurricane handle bar, set controls locking peg in the bars drilled holes. put the controls screws back. Mount bar to underbrackets using the riser block clamps and 4 bolts. Set angle where you want and torque riser block bolts and under bracket pinch bolts to 16 lb-ft. Slide on grips. Slide in balance weights and new bar ends (Honda bar ends don't fit).

Attach clutch and brake fluid reservoirs to handlebar next to controls. Put the little plastic chrome bolt caps on the 4 clamp bolts if you're 100% sure you like the bars angle.

I finally finished an upgrade of a 1998 VFR; Valves, plugs, hydraulics, silicon hoses, thermostat, etc.
A Japanese Police Motorcycle Kit was a main objective for my ergos.

Venhill in the UK is also an excellent supplier of longer cables; I used them on my Blackbird with great success. And they arrived here in the central US in less than a week, at a total of less than US$120.00.
As a quickie solution to longer brake and clutch hoses, Heli sells a 5" extension kit that works just fine, if not elegantly. Also used on the Bird.
You can make them out here coming out of the masters. This was the original layout I used, which has since been tidied up.

And just like that we’re all good on the standard HBK606A kit. Waiting for the weighted bar ends to come in from web bike Japan since I forgot to order them with this. (HB0338B-01 for the 14mm ID bars)

    EDIT:
Weighted bar ends arrived and installed. Fits perfectly.
