No shit. And not just from a money stand point, but the ability to be involved. Collaborate on lines and concepts and give final approval at certain stages. There is NOTHING like that around here anymore.

Gonna have to up my game at some point it seems, I want to do more than solid schemes.

Yeah, I think I will skip on the welder for now and get an airbrush kit going. Much more affordable and most likely useful dollar for dollar. I just re-sprayed my Hawk tail (which is beat) and I think the potential is there with the right equipment.

Sorry to thread jack Blu! Just droooling over your paint!

Thanks, and quite honestly, I've grown tired of dealing with paint. I personally value flawed originality over perfect restoration. It used to be that you could find good plastics or bikes with good paint in place, but it seems those days are disappearing. I spend what seems like endless hours on plastic repair and prep, then pay outrageous material costs for paint — my painter is awesome to work with, but even he feels the need to apologize for those constantly rising costs. And he's talking about departing the business. In hindsight, I should have chosen a naked bike to fall in love with ;-)

P.S. if you're interested, here's a bit more background on this bike:

We had a dude here in Seattle that did that level of work, recreated everything. He did a bunch of stuff for us thru the Honda shop for customer and personal bikes. Un-freakin-believable. He retired a few years back. Did a lot of 70's Hondas too.

I think this is the reason I like the RWB 750 I picked up so much. The bodywork is imperfect, but original (80's stickers and all) and that makes me a little less concerned about scratching the paint. I forget showroom and just ride the sum bitch.
I have seem some really good chinese bodywork lately, so that has taken the zing out of finding OE in my mind. Although my wife and I are big resto-mod people, so we just want the look and all of the upgraded parts.

I am in the process of selling, but once I reduce the fleet, I have a set of RC45 (maybe-30) bodywork from airtech I want to fit up to my 86750. Last project on the list, but I could use a good paint guy.

Thread jack again...my bad. Sorry Blu.

    Bike looks great !

Re the other topic, thats why I decided to get into the paint thing myself, I'm fortunate I have buddy with a paint both and he used to be a bodyshop/paint teacher as well as a Pro Painter. So, Ive benefited from a good teacher and access to a booth with a nice compressor.

My buddy is slowly retiring from doing alot of paint and body, but is happy to teach me.

So far I've been really pleased with what can be accomplished with some good guidance. Of course it helps alot when you really really enjoy paint and bodywork like I do.

I'm tempted by the moto-cnc bar risers but wasn't sure how to determine extra length for the brake & clutch lines.

There may enough length in the lines already if you ditch the hold down brakets.
