okay...i've been trying to figure this out for a long time. there are three jets when i take off my float bowls. the main jet and holder are easy to identify. there are two others, one can be screwed out, one seems to be pressed in. is one the slow jet and one the pilot jet? what's the difference? please help me solve the mystery. i checked the past forums to no avail. thanks.
I don't know details about carb in the 94 VFR. From my experience w/ Mikuni CV carbs there are 4 jets: Main, Needle, Pilot and Air. The air jet will be at the intake side of the carb opening The fuel jets (Pilot, Main and Needle) are all under the float bowl cover. Pilot jet will have a rubber plug over it. Main jet is screwed into Needle jet. All jets can be removed. Air, Pilot and Main are screw-in. Needle jet is gently pressed out after (a) removing the Main, and (b) removing the slide/diaphragm assy.

I believe the one that's pressed in is the enrichener for cold starts. If you have them off, you can trace where things go by spraying and carefully watching. It's a hard thing to fully explain via keyboard.
thank you everyone for the quick replies. okay, i can identify the mainjet, holder, and needle jet, and pilot jet. there is one more jet that seems to be pressed in. is pilot jet the same as slow jet. is the air jet, the screw near the intake of the carb the same thing that i've read about where you have to drill into it to remove the plug that covers it. if not, what is that then? ahhhhh!!!!! maybe i should get a fuel injected bike
The pilot jet and slow jet are one and the same. Open the enrichener (choke) and spray into the pressed in jet. Your spray should come out throught the larger hole on the engine side of the carb. Carbs are easy once you explore.
Oh, and the pilot screw or idle mixture screw is on the bottom of the carb on the engine side. (as opposed to the airbox side) Be careful if you drillout the plug not to damage the screw.
The part covered by a metal plug is the air screw (also have seen it referred to as the fuel adjustment screw). Different than the air jet. +1. Can mess up the slot in the screw or the threads if you drill too deep. I prefer to use a drill press when possible.
