Yep, searched for answers. Peered at the tiny B&W images in the manual and still can't figure it out.
You pull and push cables move smoothly and there is no binding. When I attach the pull cable, the throttle opens and snaps back nicely. I attach the push cable and return is very slow. It seems as if the cable is too short as it is difficult to line up the threaded part into the bracket. I can't see any adjustments that make a difference. If I adjust the idle a bit, there is a bit more room to attach the push cable but still it binds. Frustrating as I had to pull the carbs again and putting them in is a pita.

no need to remove carbs to attach both cables, just get your butt on the floor.

the threaded sleeve with locknut is usually adjusted to have some cable slack, and both cables are adjustable. in addition, there might be some slack available in the upper adjuster.

I ditch all of my return cables. They only create friction that causes issues. That would include my CBR600, VFR750, vfr700, hawk, ST1100. Never had a problem after removal. choose your poison. :)

I will try adjusting again and ditch if no improvement. Carbs came off last evening and I did not have the emotional strength to try to fight them back on so a fresh look this morning. There's gotta be an easier way.

check your routing of the cables. Had the same issue before on a vfr400.

Squirrel, this is a VF, not a VFR. Cables are in the center of the carbs, not on the side.

Don't forget you have adjustment on one of the cables near the throttle housing. 8mm adjuster and 10mm lock nut. I always give it as much slack there before removing carbs to help get the cable ends off of the carb bracket. Upon reassembly, after getting the cables back on, I will set the upper cable adjuster to about 1/4 to 1/3 out, giving myself adequate adjustment to take up slack later, and a little to go back in if needed. Do your best to set the proper slack at the carbs before installing in the insulators (perhaps even a little on the loose side?), and then do your final adjustment up on the cable after the carbs are in. Check snap-back lock to lock, adjust as needed.

This is ALL assuming you have your cables routed properly and are in good working condition. They are a pain to attach to the carbs when they are routed correctly. We know the throttles didn't stick when they left the factory.

Don't know if this is your problem or if it will help, but it def helps me, I do A LOT of carbs.

    Good luck and cheers!
