2 questions- please forgive my ignorance- Had a pretty bad fork oil leak. Decided to try a Motion Pro 'seal mate' before taking it all apart to install new seals. After cleaning the fork and upper seal area, and running the seal mate around the tube 3 or 4 times, I bounced the forks 20 times and repeated twice, for a total of 60. there was a small ring after the first set but nothing after the 2nd or 3rd. Won't know the final verdict till after riding it but here in the northeast, it'll probably be another 3 or 4 weeks before the roads are clear enough. According to the manual, the forks have to be taken apart just to add ATF ( is that ATF as in Automatic Trans Fluid?? ) thanks in advance, b
Stock is ATF as in Automatic Trans Fluid. Approx 7.5wt. They don't have to be "taken apart" to add fluid. But to do it correctly, kinda. To properly put the correct amount of fluid in, the height should be set. Which means removing the springs and compressing the forks completely.
there's always some nasty-smelling disgusting liquid silver particle soup fouling up the bottom of old forks, so it's best to remove them, wash out and drain them completely......if you wanna do it right.
