What would cause my whole sprocket to just fall off?

If the mounting bolts are still there, sprocket failure. If they aren't, maintenance failure. Either way, you're pretty lucky, considering.

You lost the whole hub and everything? Rear axle nut came loose somehow... wasn't staked?? Yep f-ing lucky in a few ways...
Your hub and sprocket are laying on the road somewhere.....

Well, that is the most (explative) farking thing I have seen in recent memory! WTF? did you work on that bikes drive system? I don't understand, because even if you did chain/sprockets - the beauty and ease of working on these bikes is that the rear drive stays in situ and you remove the rear sprocket without any rear wheel removal. If you lost that nut (which) is staked, I guess the whole hub could migrate off the bike. I did a rear rotor and had to remove that part, and have periodically put a 30mm socket on the nut (staked - unstaked it) and checked torque spec.

I had a counter sprocket work itself off a new chain install on another bike once. The solution was to drill the two bolts and safety wire them together like in aviation or racing.

    Thanks Bro!
I am looking, I would like to find whatever is left of what was on there?
The only thing left in the road was a couple rubber dampeners.
I really want to find it to see what happened, I am thinking now that it must have broke ??
The guy that I bought it from said that he "just" did new sprockets and chain.
The only thing that I have done back there was tension the chain???

The PO may have had the final drive apart and perhaps didn't torque properly and stake the nut.... the hub shouldn't be too far from where you found the rubber dampers...... you are missing everything in the top row, except #6.

    Yes, thank you!
All of that stuff should have been in the road too?
Maybe it is/was still attached to the other half of the hub and sprocket??
I really pray that I am able to source all of these "discontinued" parts, how do we keep these things on the road???

That is different from the manual that I have. I do not have that exploded view?
Do you have the list of all those numbered parts?

That's the exploded view from the parts list. Just go to a site like Babbits Honda or something.

    These are "discontinued" parts!!!

I was able to order this stuff from ProCaliber, I even got the little plastic cap for it.
Thanx TC and the whole VFRW crew, you guys are awesome.

I will update you when it comes...

if toe-cutter gave you a beer, it would be in a durty glass. the rubbers are part of your cush drive, not be confused with a condum.

Oh contraire my friend, I have experienced TC's hospitality. It is better than many 4-5 star resorts I've stayed at.
