Finally got my self an ole VFR750. FG with some slight mods and in need of a lot of TLC. 1986 from the UK with 20k, semi aftermarket exhaust and wrong color bodywork but starts and rides smoooooth as silk. Can't wait to get questions answered and update this sweetie. Super stoked! VFR750.jpg

Like I mentioned over on Hawkgtforum, that thing sure has A WHOLE BUNCH of 88 - 89 parts on it for an 86. What size are the fork tubes? Sure look like 41mm.

Masters are 88-89. Top triple clamp looks the parts too, so likely 41mm forks.

Subframe and passenger pegs are later model too. Wheels of course.

Whoa! What's that extra weldment on the frame by the rear brake lever?

Sup Capt? lol. 41mm forks..honestly I think somebody had a bunch o parts laying around and made their own bike. Weldment, ahh the bid "U" shape? I was wondering about that. Hard wreck and rebuild perhaps?

That is, for all intents and purposes, a 1989 VFR. I don't care what the paperwork says. That's not a bad thing. Lots of improvements over 86.

Could be a 1986 frame with EVERYTHING swapped over.

Yes, that U shaped weldment is something.

How many numbers in VIN? Have to ask... stamped vin matches title?

So... what's the story? How'd you come into this? Not many 88 - 89 over here.

I picked up at an auction with title "in process" form PA. Does not look promising on the title front yet. It was cheap and I am not sure what I am going to do. I was contemplating a RC30 wanna be since I just love the engine so much. It has all of the same red bodywork as your picture. Probably from some kind of chop shop in the uK.

I honestly don't think that thing was pieced together. Too consistently 1989 throughout.

Well, I recently swapped frames for a title on one of my builds cuz it was easier than dealing with my state.

It looks mostly like it was still from factory..Just the OE layout of all the tubes and wiring. I wonder if the dude didn't really know what year it was to begin with.

I just saw one of these 250s on craiglist the other day. I passed because I realize I don't like sub 500cc much unless it is 2smoker.

You'd be surprised by a VTR250, keep your corner speed up and you'll give people fits. One of these days I'll finish the VTR250R.

It was a broken one from a VF1000R resto that I did. The front area was missing, so I rounded it and trimmed it up to the stripe line.
