Recommendations for rear shock upgrade

Hi guys
do you recommend i replace my 4th gen 1995 shock ? and what with
and is it worth doing
My current shock is really hard on the ass and is original as far as i know

If I was in the U.K., Hagon, YSS, Wilburs, Bitubo. All good choices in the medium price range. You can go up a price level and start looking at premium shocks like Ohlins.

I have put YSS on 3 bikes now and really like them. A great value.

Question for you sir , do you know the default setup regarding rider weight on the YSS g series ? i am 11 st 10 lb thanks

They do list the default spring that ships with the unit. A quick search didn't lead me to any kind of YSS spring application chart regarding how many stone the rider is.

When I have contacted sales@firefoxracing.co.uk (The YSS tech shop) they were pretty helpful with a couple questions I had.

I know you can request whatever spring you want for an additional charge.

The shocks I have ordered seem to be fitted pretty damn good as shipped for my bikes after looking at sag numbers. I am about 185 lbs without gear.

what they said above, this is mine on my 93, have a Fox twin clicker on my 91. Both of these have been serviced over the years btw. Nothing like having a quality shock under your bum.

 

You can fit the zzr1400 shock to the gen 3. Did it and it works really well. Length is a bit off so you can swap out the dogbone from an older vfr (think mine was an 88 donor).

 

I still have this Penske shock (harvested from an Aprilia Futura and resprung for the VFR) if you want. I think it just needs 2 washers on the lower bolt for a direct fit. Let me know if you're interested. I just pulled all of my old conversion parts out of the shed and listed them on a few pages.

Sent a PM to Whitewings regarding the Penske shock.

 

What do you know about adjustable length availability on the YSS shock? I emailed them and never got a reply. I have them on my XS750 and I like their product. I want to quicken the steering and make it easier to get on the center stand.
