So, I was thinking about headlights for my VFR..... I have an Airtech Fiberglass front upper fairing and want to put put aftermarket headlights in it. I don't like the square headlight as much. I don't care if I have to fiberglass it up a little, but I was thinking.... what about the dual headlight setup like the RC30 and NC30?

What do you guys think? Anyone ever do this?

I'm sure it can be done. I would look on eBay for headlights from either a early 90's CBR or late 80's FZR as they had round headlights. You can also go to eBay UK and look up VFR 400, as you will ocassionally find headlights from those for sale. I really don't see why this couldn't be done. Ppl here have done far more complicated mods to their VFRs. This shouldn't be anything more than a little wire splicing, hole cutting in the fairing, and fabbing up a mont for the headlights as required.

There is a company in the uk called Skidmarx that used to offer a twin headlamp conversion upper fairing for the early vfr, I had one fitted in 92, I'm pretty sure they would supply you the lights or tell you how to source them

oh, I definately want to do the dual headlight...

I'll PM you about the RC30's.... I'm interested.

Thanks for the links. I want to cut the holes, and fiberglass them in, so they're set back in the fairing like the RC 30....

So, aside from being able to do it, what do you guys think about how it'd look?

    that looks great, keny.

most of the dual light setups u could find would be from mid-80s FZR, ZX, CBR, GSXR......or buy at autoparts store and fabricate mounts.

unless you're a multiple-card-holding platinum upgraded triple-gold preferred VIP, forget about any piece or part of a real RC 30.

it's a known fact that Honda sells nothing for that bike for less than $1000

The pic I posted is a bike I found on net for sale in Germany, more pics of it in Photos/first and second gen.
I have seen one for real in a shop some years ago. Looks like it uses 2 round 5"3/4 headlights

Im thinking of doing a similar conversion but I wanted a more modern CBR look. I just dont know if there is enough realestate there for it. The "hard" part of this conversion is to get the lights adjustable and or mounted on the correct angle so they light the road.

The guys at street fighter have been cool. www.streetfightersinc.com
I asked for prices on the lense and bulb parts for a few lights Im considering. they do have round ones too
    http://www.streetfightersinc.com/Fairings.htm
I recall the CBR 900 RR had round lights back in the day, like 93?

The headlight from the MM Geko fairing is US$190.00, the Ram (headlight) US$135.00.We are still waiting for an answer in regards to the Hesa Type 5. These are not individual lights it is a full dual unit with low beam and high beam.
I hope this helps, let us know what you would like to do.

I think I'm going to fiberglass it myself... and there's a guy on i spoke to with some real RC30 headlights for less than the ones you said jasonj.... so I might go that route.

I dont see why lights like this couldnt be used on a 1st or 2nd gen even to give it that dual headlight look.

These would work great on most gens of VF/VFR as well.

Here is the CBR light roughed in. Not much different than stock but a bit, it was cheap. Still need to rivit some mounts and get some trim around it.
