Apparently the lettering is not enough..... isn't that evident? Some can't read.

Why does it seem they are only going to do something to fix this design once someone is killed?

Nowt wrong with the design just the idiots that fit them and tighten up using the Hex. The same Hex that is only supposed to be used when removing said filter. It even says so on the effing box.

Actually that is not true. I have had 2 leaks with them that were from the O ring bunching and pinching due to the outer housing of the filter being the wrong size. 1 on the CBR at the track where I almost high sided to the moon and the other on the VFR. There is a thread on 1000RR where a guy had the same problem and took a micrometer and measured a stock filter and the K&N showing in photos that the K&N is slightly off in diameter. Yes a lot of idiots do tighten the hex and stress the shitty welds but there are many failures from pinched O rings on properly installed filters. They are just dangerous POS!

I think the big gushers are the HEX nut. But the failure I had at the track was the O ring and while not a gusher it did dump a lot of oil in a short period. Granted I was hammering the hell out of the CBR with near red line rpm's but that should not happen no matter what.
