I have heard great things about the Cardo units, I have a Sena 10R and it has been great (after the speaker upgrade). A friend has now started ridding and I was thinking of changing coms. The battery in my 10R only last 2 hours and its only 2 years old. Any input on coms would be appreciated.

My first and only experience using comms on a ride was with a Cardo Packtalk Bold. I did not use the feature of listening to music or answering calls. Just to talk to the 3 other riders in the group. Worked pretty well. When I was leading I would occasionally lose contact with the sweeper if going around a corner or over a big hill. This was with the antennas in the down position. Next time we will try with the antennas up. I do like the ease of use and adding more units to the group is super easy. Would recommend.

Phone, music, GPS are still bluetooth..... bluetooth flaky, new units have BT 5.0 which I can only hope is better. Bike to bike coms are mostly BT, but Sena 30, 50 and Cardo PackaTalk Bold use mesh (within the same brand). Rumour has it there will be a "universal mesh" that will work with all brands, someday soon I hope..... spent way too much money on comms... Sena 20 at the moment, I can't tell you who is best with the newer ones. I'd say if your Sena 10 does what you want it to do, get a new battery.
If you want true long range universal, we gotta go back to GMRS/FRS radios wired in or BT to headset with PTT button... at least those worked all the time.... sigh.

I had to check your information to find out how old you were before I posted the following to know if you would understand this.

This X.M.Y.556 A. for Apple calling X.M.Y.556 B. for Bob, come in please. LOL. BTW all you others, this is a Canadian thing so don't pull you hair out trying to figure it out.

If the COVID shut-down means Angus has still not made a decision - I suggest he finds a beer and comfy chair and watches this. It is quite revealing..

As you will quickly realise Neither is perfect and there is no common standard. Rival manufacturers do their best to lock-out their competitors. But as this kit is expensive, it is probably best just to go with whatever kit your riding mates already have.

For intercoms the short answer is if you can afford it, the best choice is Packtalk - either Slim or Bold versions which underneath work basically the same.

Sena has one advantage of a tie up with GoPro so their latest system can remotely start/stop recordings, but on other fronts it falls well behind Packtalk.

With Packtalk pairing is quick and easy and you can still connect in a rider with an earlier bluetooth only system - but the DMC mesh system coupled with reliable voice control is really instinctive and works even at speed. It is so much easier to use than poking buttons .. Hey Cardo answer call ... Hey Cardo next track... Hey Cardo next station.
