I scored a sweet set of brand new, very old stock, Cobra F1R exhaust slip on’s for my 86 vfr700. The seller I bought them from assured me they would fit my bike, model #1070, and even had paperwork with the pipes. When I try to line the pipes up, the band at the bottom is not the same and I’m wondering if I’m missing something. Is there a mid pipe that I’m supposed to have that goes in place of the one that’s on the bike, the one that unbolts underneath? I’m thinking I’ll just have them welded if all else fails. Any help on Getting these bolted up as easily as possible, please chime in.

Those sure look like VF, not VFR pipes. No idea why the tabs are uneven, there's no VF or VFR that has asymmetrical mounts.
And a center stand stop? Almost like pipes from 2 different kits. I did find a video of a VFR with Cobras, but it kinda looks like it has a different connector to go to the header pipes. Also, my Kerker slip-ons required cutting off the mufflers from the pipes, and retaining the cross-over section.

This muffler is from the #1083 kit. No center stand tab either.

Really appreciate the info... thinking I’m just gonna get these welded up with some bends that will work.

I still don't get the mounts at different locations and differing lengths at the front. I really think they are from two kits.

Actually might just try to return these. What’s my best option for a much louder than stock exhaust for this bike? Any links to the perfect fit are appreciated? Do you like the kerker?

Yes, I love them. Look and sound great. I bought some crashed mufflers so I could cut them up just for the pipes.

I have a brand new set in a box for the next build. And an extra set of cut-off pipes.

Not sure exactly what you mean by "getting some used ones just for the pipes." Is that link you sent me a decent set of pipes that will bolt up? Would you want to sell me the set that you have? New to this bike and trying to learn as much as possible.

Hacking up a set of decent original mufflers for the connecting pipes is blasphemy. Here's what you'll need off of donor mufflers, this is a left

No. Those would be just the mufflers. You would combine those with above using a custom connecting pipe made by a muffler shop. A pretty simple 2" pipe expanded on the bottem end to slip over the above piece.

There is not a chance in the world.
