Yes, just irons and rim protectors. The rear tire took just 2 iron moves to get on. The front took about 5 or 6, but was still super easy.

The PITA is removing old hard tires, usually after buying used rims.

Saw that bike yesterday.....complete. It does need a real good cleaning but it is all there. Carbs are out and getting cleaned.

Good riddance, look at that nasty thing. ;-) The new wheel is spinning on the balance stand as I took this pic. I remembered to balance before installing!

I actually painted it over 20 years ago and it was some of the first wheels I painted. They were a bitch, I remember that. These wheels were super weathered and dinged. Plus the bolts were heavily corroded, so the best course was paint. Always meant to hand paint the bolts, but it never really bothered me. It will find a home on another bike eventually.

You shouldn't hang calipers by their hoses, but she's getting stainless braided lines.

Back together. New 1.0 springs, Race Tech Emulator on compression fork, front braided lines. And of course new tires on restored wheels.

It's stiff! I'll put some miles on, but I may be adjusting the preload and/or oil level. But it does feel awesome just rolling around the shop.

And I almost forgot to balance the front wheel before installing. Just get so excited.

The bodywork really isn't the issue. It's the inner radiator ducting shroud. I have to use a shorty allen wrench with a little tube extension to loosen and "torque" the lower triple clamp bolts.

I did run into something unexpected while updating the forks. One of the compression side bushings was very worn and the oil was super dark with coating that came off. The other bushing in that fork still looked perfect. The chrome tube is perfect and fork wasn't leaking. I luckily had another nice bushing from some parts out of another set of forks. Flushed the fork out a few times until clean fluid came out. The oil in the other fork still looked bright red and new. Weird.

    Makes sense.

Ive still not touched either of my VF1000R's. Im still waiting on the new M2/3 gear from Japan (taking way longer than usual -- COVID?) and to be honest I may wait until fall, its getting to be the busy farming season now and ill need a few projects lined up for the winter anyway. Im also no 100% happy with the painted frame I did. I may have to go back and get it powder coated, or take the "silver sparkle " one I had done last year and didn't like, and get it stripped and re done in a different silver. not only was the colour bad, but the texture of the finish was shyte, looked like it had been applied with a wet sock dipped in lumpy gravy, ill be seeking a discount next time.

I had to go to the Post Office, so I did a shake down run.

Fucking awesome. Preload and oil level feel just about perfect. Compression damping feels a touch harsh around crappy city streets, so it's probably pretty damn close for the valley.
