They are testing recovered people for anti-bodies in the hopes they can get some useful information.

 

I fabricated a harness to physically attach my magnetic tank bag. I stopped trusting the magnets when I got caught in some high crosswinds on a day ride, and it blew the bag of my tank and (luckily) into my arm.

I made the harness from 1" nylon web strap and buckles. I had to stitch a couple straps and buckles to the bag, and that was probably the most time consuming part, since I stitched it by hand. I used heavy duty nylon thread.

Not the prettiest, or maybe even lightest, but it's secure, and I can still easily remove the bag to get to the gas tank. I can still remove and replace the harness as well without having to break out any tools.

Took the old war horse for a little ride. About 250 miles. Almost all Motorway at 88-90 mph.
Pretty surprised by the mileage it gets with the new pipes and gearing. Race headers and pretty much open can + 16/45 gearing. The second to last line on the fuel gauge dropped at just over 182 miles. That should mean around 205-207 miles to a tank.
That is quite a bit less than before, but quite a bit more than I expected.

 

Some neoprene or other soft padding material between the straps and your tank may help prevent scratches/wear...

 

I'll consider it. The harness itself shouldn't move or vibrate any to cause wear. The bag is also still magnetic, and holds itself in place for the most part. The harness is just a failsafe in case the magnets don't hold tight enough against crosswinds.

Pumped up front tire, leaky cheap Chinese right angle valve, then went for a brisk ride in 80 degree weather. Will replace valve when new tire comes in, going to stick to old fashion self sealing rubber valve stems. Went from 32 to 4 lbs in a week!

 

I love my right angle valves. Maybe try a different and higher quality type? They make my life sooo much easier.

 

I bought the ones from KurvyGirl, and am very happy with them. No leak down.

I also installed Curvy Girl. All good - no leaks after 1 year. So much easier to check pressure on the front tire!

 

I am on my second set and never had a leakage with either. The first set were chromed with a curved corner but they pitted and looked ugly so on the next tire change, I went to billet cut aluminum anodized red and have had them on for several years now with no issues. The only thing I don't like about them is you have to find another way to introduce dynabeads into your tires. If you use weights, then this is not an issue of course.

 

I use Ride-on tire sealant, which also can be used to balance your tires the same way the beads do. Just remove the valve core, squeeze in the amount you need for the tire, then put the valve for back in and air up the tire. I didn't have any issues every with a 90° valve stem. I've been using this stuff for both my bikes, and it's worked great

The tire Slime stuff won't balance your tires, and doesn't congeal/stick to the tire wall as well as Ride-on.

Always used Ariete stems.

 

Yes they are convenient, CycleGear replaced with another one when I got the last tire. Pain in the ass to keep taking the wheel off and to pump up. Front wheel on the 8th gen have little clearance. Where did get yours? What brand? My rear tire doesn't leak, and I still have one on that rim.

 

Honestly I don’t remember, my bud worked in a Honda dealership and I gave him my rims at tire changing time and told him to put the right angle valves on for me. There are plenty of responses above⬆️ That people recommend specific brands.

 

I believe the right angle valves that Julie from KurvyGirl sells are the Ariete/Bridgeport version 2's. Julie is super responsive on orders and will typically get them out the same day. I have bought a lot of bits and pieces from Julie and I totally recommend her and her company.

 

Must have been a tough job getting the hub off a 5 bolt 8th gen to fit a 6th gen. It’s beyond my skill set but it looks Rad!!

Vfr has been quiet for a few weeks, just chilling on a tender right now. Been thinking about buying a Hurricane handlebar kit from Web bike Japan. Not the huge tall cop bike bars but the lower ones that make cruising around the city much more comfortable.
I’ve had the bike for damn near 11 years and the only mod is lowered pegs using the BLS lowering blocks. Maybe one day I’ll make the change.
