Not much activity here, I see, but I ride a 5th gen and am located in Castle Rock, CO. Just stumbled across this thread.

Nice bike, looks like a well-preserved example of the "best-Gen". What type of pipe is that on the bike? Kinda resembles the Yoshimura I have on my '93 Suzuki GSF400. I'm always interested to hear what the different aftermarket exhausts sound like on our 5th Gen bikes.

Yeah, for long periods of time it seems like there's nobody around Denver riding a 5th Gen then suddenly you're seeing them coming-and-going and occasionally you even get to meet them. I'm in Aurora (with a '99) and I've been helping a guy who lives in Boulder refurbish a '00 that he bought last fall. We're planning to do another 2-day weekend maintenance thrash in my garage sometime in May.

If you want to meet up you could drop by my garage on that day and talk while we work, I can keep you updated on when we'll be getting together.

I'm Greg and the guy from Boulder is Dave B. I'm located close to the Yosemite exit off of I-225.

Thanks, Greg! I’ll have to play a meet up by ear, pending pandemic status, but I’m interested in linking up at some point! Definitely shoot me a PM if you guys are looking to get together.

The exhaust is made by Two Brothers. It was on the bike when I bought it. It has a great sound, but it’s pretty loud.

So you're saying you've got a full Two Brother's system on the bike? Meaning: you have the Two Brother's Header/Collector and the exhaust canister? I haven't seen/heard one in person, the full system is relatively rare.

It's interesting because I recently (last Fall) purchased and installed a low-production, custom made in California header/collector for my 5th Gen that was modeled very closely on the Two Brother's system. There are a couple of California VFR800 guys who took it upon themselves to work up this project. It has resulted in a very good stainless steel performance exhaust system that a lot of forum members have purchased.

Here's a link to the forum thread about it over on VFRDiscussion: https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index...-performance-header-now-in-production-in-usa/

So yeah, I'd like to hear what your 5th Gen sounds like with the original real-thing Two Brother's system on it (complete with a really loud 20 year-old Two Brother's exhaust canister that's never been re-packed... yeah, they need to be re-packed every-so-often).

Nope, just a slip on, I believe...though, I admittedly have not looked all that closely in the two years I’ve had the bike, ha! I’ll have to look at that thread. Thanks for the share.

It's easy to tell: The Two Brother's header/collector will be shiny stainless steel colored, the original OEM Honda header/collector will be painted black.

Wow got an email that the thread came alive. I'm in Golden off Indiana Ave. I have 2 Fourth Gens. I bought one here in Colorado in January that is in great shape. It handled terrible for me because the previous owner had put a 190 on the back. I went back to the 170 and it made all the difference. It's fun having 2 of the same model to compare the handing. Both have the same tires now. I live in Ecuador normally but will be here for awhile. Looking forward to spring in Colorado.

I see, just the exhaust canister then. That black-painted header/collector is OEM Honda.

Oh well, I was excited for a moment, the Two Brothers header/collector on a 5th Gen is a rare sight these days (borderline "unobtainium" or pretty accurately described as being "rare as rocking horse poo").

I spent time in Quito during the 1990s, always enjoyed my visits there. We always stayed at the Oro Verde hotel up on the western hillside of the city.

The Oro Verde chain has great hotels.
My original VFR from California is getting new brake and clutch lines as well as new hoses. I found a mechanic that does side work. I have about 60000 miles on it, and really don't know the history so doing a valve check and adjustment if necessary. Really curious on how this come out. It's really niece to have 2 VFR's . While one is getting worked on the other is good to go.
