Any 5'4" riders that own the 8th gen vfr800?

Take the bike for a test ride. If it's uncomfortable, don't buy it. I'm 5' 11" with a 30 inch inseam and it's comfortable to me. Anybody should get off a motorcycle before an hour and a half comes up. You'll get back on more alert, feeling better and ride safer. Maybe a VFR isn't for you. There's other great bikes out there. BTW, VFR's in America are obsolete since Honda decided not to sell them here. What's already here are the last ones. Consider that.

I'm 5' 6" and I have found it reasonably ok. I rode it for about 5000 miles before getting the 1.25" bar risers in preparation for a 1500 mile IBA ride i wanted to do. All this while the seats were in the high position and I was mostly on tippy toes at stops (Sometimes I sand on one foot and that works fine too). I've finally adjusted the seat to the lower position and can just flat foot. I guess I'm trying to say I've been comfortable with short as well as long rides, so I dont think it should be so different for you.

I mostly run ethanol free gas unless I'm on trips and can't find that, then i use premium (I don't bother about the numbers, I just put the highest).

 

VFR's do not like high octane gas unless pre-5th gen. They all run best on 87 octane. Don't ask me why but they do. They do run better on non-welfare gasoline. Remember gasoline?

 

Why do you say this? Any references? I haven't been in the US too long, so I don't know too much about the different gasoline types. I just felt that premium gas has less ethanol and is a good replacement when I can't find ethanol free.

 

My reference is me, my experience which is extensive on this, and the owner's manual. You can buy ethanol free gas in The South and I do. You can choose to believe it or not. VFR's run like shit on premium gas. If that's what you want to run, no problem. Premium actually has more ethanol in it. Ever heard of valve overlap?

 

I'm with you but I do use premium going into winter because the only station around me with ethanol free gas (which I prefer when my bike is going to sit for a few months), has it only in the premium grade. Otherwise, cars and motorcycles run better on regular unless they are specifically made to run premium (very high compression).

 

Premium gas burns cooler and around these parts, some brands are ethanol free for premium. Regular has 10% ethanol, mid-grade is just a blend so it is roughly 5% . Agree use what the manufacturer recommends, and I do put premium ethanol free in for that last tank before storage.

 

Agree with you if it's going to sit up. Ethanol is not bad if you're going to use it up. Not good to sit a long time. Ethanol gas just has a little less BTU's per unit.

 

Like I said earlier, I mostly run ethanol free gas. There is a station close to me that sells it so that helps greatly. The few occasions I've put in premium are on long trips where I couldn't find ethanol free, and the stations from the app I use didn't exist at the location it was supposed to be.

Didn't say I doubted you. In my field, we usually need some for of confirmation and I've gotten used to it that's why I asked how you know this, or if there are references. Confirmation from experience is good enough.
