I just picked up this all original (I believe) 1983 VF750F. Only 2,600 miles! One owner. In wonderful condition but sat for quite a while. I hope to get this bike going for the summer. Wish me luck![IMG][IMG]

Have one just like it, had it since 83. Mine sat for a long time too. Two major problems to look for; rust in the tank and gunk in the carbs. I replaced all the rubber parts, including replacing an almost new set of tires that were hard with age. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah the tank has a bit of rust in it but it looks like surface rust. I plan on replacing a lot of the rubber. Carbs definitely need to be gone through.

    Welcome Galtmech10c!!
    Good find.
Hard to believe it has just under 2,700 miles, when you say it has "sat for quite a while", you aren't just whistling dixie.

Yeah I couldn’t believe it either with the mileage. But researching it with the previous owner it’s true. Crazy. I definitely am going to correct the rust inside the tank before anything. Same with the carbs.

Looking at the picture of my new bike, the exhaust looks a little different to me than pictures of stock. The upward swing at the muffler doesn’t really seem hat pronounced. And the muffler doesn’t have that shine that I have seen in pictures. Any thoughts? I know it’s a cruddy picture.

They could be some flat black Supertrapp slip-ons. But we might as well be debating the face on Mars with that resolution.

Front tire is original, that's for sure.

Yeah. I apologize for the crap picture. I will be picking it up Sunday and I’ll get some good photos then.

Got the bike home after freeing up the calipers. I saw the upper radiator has a crack in it at the fill port. I got the carbs out but the vent and fuel tubes are cracked. So a few things to fix for sure. Does anybody have a good source for the tubes?
