Hello everyone. I used to frequent these boards often when I owned a VFR several years ago now. Coincidence has brought me back here.

I am doing a paint job on a 1984 VFR. I have to recreate the side decals. Every aftermarket set of decals I have looked at are incorrect so I'm going to make them myself.

    What I need is:

Close-up photos of the "500" and "INTERCEPTOR" decals as indicated in this photo. If possible, get the dimensions while you're at it. I can straighten out the photos in Photoshop if need be. The key is getting the subtle font characteristics.

Be glad to make more copies if anyone is in need while I'm at it.

Here are some photos of the project also in case anyone is interested. Thank you in advance!!!

If nobody beats me to it, I'll dig out a side cover later and take some close-ups.

    Looking good so far.

    Lookin Good,
But, I would replace that Front Tire.
Any Tread that channels water to the center (hydro-planning) is asking for trouble.
You'll NEVER make that mistake if you've Raced in the Rain.
Or,,.. don't ever ride it in the rain,,..

I have set of 84 side panels that I simply can't find right now. I think that means I have too much shit.

Now it's starting to fucking bug me...

I think they are in the upper parts annex with a set of 86 panels. I'll check this afternoon, I wanna go up there anyway and do a little shuffling around.

I re-checked where I thought they were like 5 times like a madman.

Anyone having any luck? I'm at the point where I literally need the decals to finish the job.

Fuck I am so sorry. I literally started a whole re-organization project after not finding mine. I will go into the 3rd garage tonite or tomorrow and do some more looking. Might have sold them, but that really doesn't sound like me. I was specifically saving them for a Benneton VF500F edition (parts from every year).

So I'm standing in my shop still in disbelief looking around like an insane person. OK, that's a Kerker system in the box, that's a Dual Sport kit in a bo.... fuck. sitting on top of the box on a high shelf I can see the side covers.

    Good news: I found them.
Bad news: The separate 500 stickers have been removed apparently.

So I can take some close ups of the "INTERCEPTOR" from an 84 and some close ups of the "INTERCEPTOR 500" from an 86. Hold on.

The "INTERCEPTOR" is 215mm long from the left lower of the "I" to the upper right of the "R" (the picture distorts the tape measure) and is 17mm high.

The "500" is 78mm long from the left lower of the "5" to the upper right of the "0". It is also 17mm high. The "INTERCEPTOR" on the 86 side cover is identical to the 84. Also the left and right side cover "INTERCEPTOR" are identical with a right cant to them, about 5mm difference top to bottom.

Looks like the 1984 "500" is bigger in your picture. Extrapolate the dimensions to what size appears appropriate I suppose. Or the 86 size would look just fine too.

Edit: Forgot... different style 500. I think I like the 86 style better.

Whew... I'll be able to have a relaxed dinner and beers tonite. Mystery solved, fucking going crazy.

    Mike.

Mike thank you so much! I'll be creating the files soon. Hopefully I'll have the decals printed by the end of the week.

If you EVER need anything in return for your efforts please let me know. Painting, decals, polishing, whatever it may be...

First of all, you're very welcome.
Secondly, that paint job is looking sweet. Nice job.
I WISH YOU WERE IN WASHINGTON. I need a couple paint jobs and am currently doing some research.

Print me up an extra set of whatever you create, I'll gladly pay shipping.

And my beer(s) was extra special last night knowing I found them and was able to help.

    -Mike

Edit: oh, that crankcase cover looks familiar and then I saw the hard tail Z50 frame, sweet!

Looking good so far, I agree! 1986 side covers by the way (only year with the little vent).

Well I have the side cover decals all printed, installed and ready for clear coat. One problem, the "V-FOUR" decals the customer supplied me are junk. They were NOS but are no longer good. Any chance you have the chin spoiler with the "V-FOUR" decal? I can recreate that one as well. Sorry to be a pain. I have a 500 and Interceptor decal ready to send you FYI.

Here are the final decals installed.

Of course I do (and I know where it is). I'll get the best picture I can with some dimensions either tonite or tomorrow morning.

Looking really good by the way. Nice job!
