It sucks fresh air from the outside of the fairing.

A common mod is to replace with a Super Hawk fan that blows out. -

thanks ,wonder if one could turn the fan blade over to blow out, just makes more sense to have the fan work with natural air flow.

I tried switching the wires once, but it performs badly - the blades is not designed to run the other direction, so I got the vtr fan and never looked back. You have to accept a hot knee in the summer tho.

Thanks Ken, I am assuming the VTR is a Super Hawk 1000cc V twin here in the states.wondering if the fan for the 250 VTR is the same as the 1000. Better a hot knee than a hot engine.

I did not fint the part number in my log as this was done before I became digital in my records - it's been almost 10 years with supercharger I see in the photos

However, for me at least, it does solve the insane temps I see in 30° c ambient - but that's because of my fueling and added drag of the rotrex.

It fixes the air stalling in front of the engine around 60km/h where my main issue was.
I'm not saying I'm comfortable in slow traffic, but it was a big improvement and it takes the temp quickly down when mowing compared to before.

Did you replace your fan blade with one off a VTR250?

    Its the VTR1000 Super Hawk...

The thing about it, is that the stock fan is better at generally 0 to 10mph (approximate guess) but the SH fan is better 10mph +
So if you commute in say bumper to bumper traffic at walking speeds, you should consider that. Consider your normal weather you ride in too.
Also, some guys add a switch to get the fan going earlier that the OEM set point of 217 degrees Fahrenheit.

I am not a ride to work guy, so anyhoo, I added the SH fan and have no heat issues.
Also, since I am in SouthWest Ohio, we are lucky to hit 90 degrees maybe 10 times a summer.
If I lived say, Atlanta, I would be more aggressive in heat control, maybe add 6 gen radiators, and mbe a fan on the right side.

Well this is anew one on me, I thought the fan was on the inside of the left rad, and blows out the way, air comes in from behind the front wheel direction surely?
