The battery on my 14 gave up the ghost the other day. Can’t blame it really as I haven’t used her much in the past 3 years (10k miles and sitting in the shed for most of the time). Battery usually charged once a month, but I forgot, due to building a camper van and as a result of my negligence a new one is required. Motobatt is the preferred favourite. But on saying that 5 years isn’t a bad lifespan for a battery.

I believe that most car batteries are either 60 or 72 months, so fits in with those as far as warranty goes. That being said I’ve seen and read about some batteries going much longer.

The ones from batteries plus and advance auto don't last near that long. 1 or two years tops. And no I don't want to start a conversation about tenders and storage.

Batteries seem like they used to last longer. On my Hawk, the original lasted about 12-13 years. Since then about 5-6 years is about it, including one that was a Yuasa that should have been exactly the same as original.

Where is the toilet? That is where I would start for me personally!;-) But it really looks great kidding aside! OH an Idea- put a tank under the table port and make a shitter that you just screw onto it? I'm not a Redneck but I have Redneck ideas. Just saying?;-) But that does mean that you would shit and eat at the same place. Not good, sorry disregard like I am sure you have already!;-)

Mine is going out as well, It almost did not start the other day on me after sitting for a few weeks of sitting. I am looking for a new one as well. I know that batteries usually last 5yrs if quality ones and expensive. I was told that the price of lead went way up in recent years. That may be the reason that the batteries last less due to lower amounts of quality lead being put in them. The battery in my 2003 Sv1000s lasted 8yrs and I did not put a tender on it. I just started it up to temp every week and reved it for a few minutes then shut it off or if above 50F I would take it out for a 30 miles or so. I followed the same routine with the VFR and now I don't trust it. Let me know what one you get because I am in the market as well. Take Care
