Picked up my new 2015 red deluxe yesterday in Ohio. Found a bunch of new bikes around the country for cheap but the best deal for me was 300 miles away. 5999.00 was sale price, with 250 doc fee and taxes title and tag was 6600.00 OTD! Found base red models for 4999.00 and white for 5499.00 but they had higher fees. Feel like I stole the bike at this price. Plenty of good deals still out there in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and California.

    Hey,

How did you come across this particular deal. Im in the market for one and it seems like a better deal to find one of these new old stock bikes than to try and find a used one at a decent price. Any real haggling or were they fairly straight forward? Did you finance or pay in full?

    Thanks!

I too would like to know how people are finding these deals. Ideally I would get one in Canada to avoid the hassles of the export and import stuff. But I would be prepared to go down to the USA and go through the fiasco to import one to Canada. So long as I can find one in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho or there about.

I looked on cycle trader. Filters I used. Make, and for model I selected vfr and interceptor as some dealership list it differently. Also selected new and sorted by lowest price. There 2 base models in p.a., red 4999.00 and white 5499.00. that dealership fees were 500$. I will mention that if you find a dealer that has them for 6 7 or 8 Grand it's also best to go directly to their website because sometimes they're cheaper on their website then what they are listed on CycleTrader because their websites are updated more frequently.

I didn't finance and the dealers I called that were under 6k would not deal. They were firm. Doesn't mean other dealers won't? There are a lot of these bikes listed, some still want MSRP on cycle trader, but will probably deal.

Thanks for the reply. I figured they wouldnt budge on 6k for the price of the bike. Im mainly concerned if they want to stab you with all their 'fees' to drive up the price.

This would be my second street legal machine, rode dirtbikes and currently I have an XR650L that Ive put about 12k~ mi on in the past two years. Now I want something sportier but do not trust myself enough to have a liter bike...yet. Wasnt planning on spending this much but Ive heard such great things and I know Honda is very practical in their engineering which Ive come to appreciate. Theyre not the fanciest or fastest (see BMW or KTM) but they do what they were designed to do and do it quite well.

My 2014 standard model was listed at $4999, though I had to drive a round trip of 2600 miles to seal the deal. Extra fees included dealer prep fees of $299, freight charges $380 and a 4 year extended service contract at $800. Taxes rounded it off to $7000. Some might say the service contract is wasted money but I'll rather have that peace of mind for a bike that might have just been seating for the last 5 years. Had an experience with a car that I debated adding a service contract or not. Went with it in the end and one month later, it paid for itself.

I used cycle trader and then followed up by visiting the dealer website and placing a call. I got financed through Honda (dealer was going to add $400 if i came with my own financing) and then went home and refinanced through my bank for a much better rate.

At that price, I didn't even bother haggling but I was able to get a 15% discount on gear I bought at the same time, as compensation for coming all the way.

Here is the link I used on cycle trader. Hope you get lucky.

Dealer I got mine from said they got them from a Honda auction. Apparently, it didn't sell as much as they would expected when it launched, and so all the dealers carrying them sent them back, and then Honda decided to auction them off to interested dealers. Look at the link above, play around with the filters (I spent days prowling the site) you can also filter for distance, maybe that might help.

Thanks for the reply. I called around to some dealers that had them near me, within about 500mi~ and the best I could get was around 9k out the door. I saw the ones listed for 5k (6k for the Deluxe) out in Texas and Wisconsin area but that 2k+ mi journey would cost me about an extra 400-500 in fuel and time off work. Even if I could get it for 7k + gas, I could afford it but I couldn't justify it right now.

Ended up picking up a 98 with 16k on the odo, for $2700 off craigslist.

    Picked up a new 2014 base for $7,000.00 out-the-door ($5,999 + destination/prep + 6.25% tax + title/license/inspection/registration) last week in East Texas.

Five year hold overs. That's got to be a record.

A few weeks ago, I picked up a new 2014 Standard for $4999. The dealer said they got a pile of them from a Honda auction. I had a 4.5 hour drive each way, but it was well worth the savings. It was a nice day to take of from work ...

Incredible prices on these machines - even if they are "old" and discontinued. I was looking for no more than a 500-class motorcycle, but couldn't pass up the VFR800 for the price.

The CBR500R can be had for the same price point at the moment and the VFR is just way ahead of that bike in every way. 95%+ of us can't push the VFR to its limit, which includes myself, so old and discontinued works just fine for me :)

Congratulations! I recently bought the Standard for the $4999 price in PA. I got lucky because I had been looking to buy a 2014/2015 over the last year or so and when I saw that price, there was nothing more to think about.
