Transporting a bicycle on the VFR. Anybody have experience with 2x2 cycles bike mount?

I'm looking into a way to transport my mountain bike on my 2014 VFR800 base model. I've come across this 2x2cycles rack. https://2x2cycles.com/product/moto-bicycle-rack/ . Anybody used one or ever transported a bicycle? Also I've seen in other forums the owner of 2x2 offered a group buy discount. I'll ask him if this thread gets enough interest.

I'm not even sure that would be legal in the uk...
If I drove that past a cop I would put money on that I'd be stopped

 

I've hauled a bicycle before but it was on a 1992 Gold Wing. It worked pretty well, but riding across Kansas
the crosswind would move me around a little. Not bad, but that setup looks way too tall and too far back for
me to feel comfortable with. The wind will catch the bike some and that far back will definitely be a case of
the tail wagging the dog.

That's a much better set up. It gets the weight down lower, and farther forward.

I carry a bicycle on my '98 with a similar setup made from a Yakima rack bolted to the topbox rack plus a strap from the rear footpegs to the headtube. As has been mentioned, there is some noticable windage, but nothing scary. The bicycle can bounce a bit over bumps which is the reason for the strap. The 2x2 rack may be more secure. Overall it is a far less crazy than driving a 4wheel cage to go ride a bike.

Sometimes just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should be done. I've carried a bike on my old
'92 GoldWing. I carried it much lower and farther forward than that and carried the tire beside the pillion
seat The GoldWiong weighs more than the VFR and I still felt the bike back there in certain conditions.

Sorry, but there is no way I would ride that, too many variables could put that at risk. JMO of course.

 

The cantilever straps on the front of the MTB bring it's center of gravity forward. Also for longer rides I take the rear wheel off and strap it to the front forks of the MTB. I do still feel it back there. I definitely take it easy on the bike. I also completely understand why somebody wouldn't ride like this lol. When I have the rear wheel strapped to the front of the bike it feels very similar to having my gf on board. With the rear wheel in the bike as pictured I can definitely feel it back there.

Definitely looks like it would be more stable with the tires forward.
