Perfect fit and chain alignment is spot on. It was a huge relief to see that my calculations and measurements were good. The slightly sucked in hub was a good idea, looks really good without the little gap that would have been there.

I have the final right hand spacer to make after checking actual fitment. Gotta work on the brake carrier now. I'm going to make a short torque arm that will go from the 929 carrier and attach to a bracket bolted to the swingarm. The 929 carrier is getting a machined sleeve pressed in to bring it down to 20mm. Eventually I would like to do a hanging caliper using the original torque arm, but I haven't found the perfect candidate yet. The 1000R caliper won't clear the wheel. It will on a F3 wheel.

Coming along great, Cap. I know that feeling of "I know I measured it right, but did I get it right?". You start mentally splitting hairs. "Should I have removed that extra 0.65 mm?" I was out in the garage doing a sanity check last night, going to find out today. Looking forward to seeing the final assembly on your wheel, it sure looks the business.

Tire mounted. Temporarily installed wheel so I can turn it around and remove front wheel for paint.

Tire is a 170/60-17 that has a real width of 177mm mounted. Working on brakes next and finish assembling the bike.

Coming together really nice, Cap. Should be great when it's completed.

Thank you very much. Should greatly improve the feeling of this old pig. I was hoping the rear tire would be closer to a true 170. My clearances shrank a bit, but should be just fine. Can't wait to roll it outside and get a better perspective. It looks pretty sick though.

That is exactly what it needed to modernize the function and look.

Won't that tyre width foul on the swing arm? I fitted a 150/70 17 rear on CBR600F3 (I ithnk, CBR600FR over here) 17 inch rims and I had to mess with the sprockets and chain length to get the tyre as far back as possible so it wouldn't rub on the swing arm.

No. It's closer than I planned on with my measurements, but should be fine. Like I said before, a true 170 width would be no problem.

I have a 160/60-17 (which is stock for F2 and F3 by the way) on a F2 4.5 inch rim on one of my RC26 and it's not even close. Was your tire a Dunlop? They run way wider than the nominal size.

The 5.5 inch rim definitely takes up more real estate. Really wanted to avoid yet another set of F2/F3 rims that absolutely SUCK to clean. (but I love the style, just wanted to do something different)

Pushing the boundaries is what makes it fun, you can't learn anything by doing the same things over and over. Who knows, you may have come across a combination that transforms the entire machine. I will be interested in hearing your final verdict. They didn't cure polio by bloodletting.....

Used my lunch to spin up the press-fit spacer that brings the 929 caliper bracket down to 20mm.
