5th gen Winter Storage and Oil Change

Hi Guys, I made an oil change in September last year while storing my bike for the winter in an non-heated garage and temperature going down to -30°C. I started my bike today(first time since storage) and it seems their is no oil in the gage. I let run the bike 8 min(Stationary) and the bike ran fine and the temps didn't go up 75°C/165°F. Their is no leak or oil spot where it stayed all winter. What happen to my precious oil where it go?

 

If you put enough oil in it last fall, and there's no oil on the ground, then all your oil is in the bike.
Now, did you start the bike and let the oil circulate before you stored it for the winter? Did you let
the bike sit for a few minutes before you checked the sight glass?

Either it wasn't as full as you thought it was last fall, or it hasn't all settled out.

No where else for it to go.

Thanks for your time. Yes I ran the bike when I changed the oil before storing. I put 3L of oil. Today, when I checked the oil for the first time the bike was already running for 5-6min.

 

Now the bike is on the center stand and I see absolutely no oil in the gage. Quite disturbing, as you said it as nowhere to go but it's still nowhere to find. The exhaust while running was spitting almost no smoke at all so i'm sure it hasn't been burned at all. Hope I didn't damaged the motor while running on that invisible oil.

 

Thanks for the reply. Yes i'm in the dillema of if I should totally change the oil or just add more. Something must have happened to the oil (deterioration\solidification) don't know how but it would explain things. Finally, I made my decision I think I'll add more and see what happens and go from there worst case scenario I'll waist half a bottle of oil and do an oil change if the oil seems weird. Just add the oil until you see it in the middle of lines on the sight glass. You apparently
didn't get it full enough at the fall oil change. Oil doesn't disappear, solidify, or anything
like that. If it hasn't leaked out, unlikely, then you simply didn't put enough in. No reason
to change the oil. And you won't see oil in the sight glass while the engine is running.
